Weekly Update

Congratulations to our auxiliary and percussion students on a job well done at the 2021 Rhythm of the Pride Recital! Thank you to all who came out to support our students and thank you to our Band Boosters for their help in running the event. It’s been a great year working with all of our students. Thank you seniors for all of your hard work, you will all be missed!
 
The 2021-2022 Percussion Placement and Concert Band Results have been sent via email. These placements were based on audition scores, previous attendance records, previous performance and behavior in class, and middle school band director recommendations for incoming freshmen. Students who are highlighted, are missing from the course request list Mrs. Robinson received from Guidance. If you name is highlighted, please ask your counselor to add band to your schedule for next year. Returning students who did not complete an audition have not been added to these rosters. We are still waiting for their results. New members who did not audition have not been added to these rosters. We are waiting for their commitment forms. Students who stated that they are not returning next year were not included in these rosters. If there is a mistake, please contact Mrs. Robinson.
 
All concert bands will resume their after-school rehearsals this week. Next week we have a dress rehearsal and concert!
 
Auditions for the 2021-2022 Auxiliary Team start this week on Tuesday at 4:30pm in the gym. Returning members must wear black on black. New students should wear a white top with black bottoms. Please refer to this link for more details: https://www.prhsbands.org/auxiliary-auditions.html 
 
Thank you to everyone who came out to the 2021-2022 Marching Pride Information Meeting. If you missed the meeting, the information packet and commitment forms have been posted on the band website: https://www.prhsbands.org/2021-2022-info.html. Information packets are also available through Mrs. Robinson in the band office. Please contact Mrs. Robinson if you have any questions. Commitment forms and fees are due by May 17th.

• Auxiliary Auditions Day 1, 4:30-6:30pm in the gym

Wednesday (5/5)

• Symphonic Wind Symphony, 2:15-3:15pm
• Symphonic Band, 3:15-4:15pm
• Auxiliary Auditions Day 2, 4:30-6:30pm in the auditorium

Thursday (5/6)

• Drum Major Workshop, 2:15-3:30pm

 
All Brass Students: All brass students are now required to bring a small towel to class, rehearsal, and performances. These towels will be used to empty out their instruments as they play. Students are no longer allowed to empty out their instrument condensation directly to the floor and it is too distracting for students to constantly empty out their instruments by the garbage can. Mrs. Robinson has provided absorption pads all year. Students are now required to provide their own towel from now on. These towels should be cleaned on a regular basis.
 
All Auxiliary: All auxiliary students who have a white flag at home must return their flag to school this week. Students who are auditioning on flag will use this flag for auditions. Students who are not auditioning on flag no longer need a flag for the rest of the school year.
 
Senior Spotlight Ads (Due May 11th): We are bringing back Senior Spotlight Ads for the Band Awards Ceremony program. These ads can be used to showcase our graduating seniors to detail their plans for next year or they can be used as a way of sending them well wishes and congratulations on their accomplishments. All ads must be purchased and submitted by May 11th. 
 
Drum Major Workshops & Officer Auditions (Applications Due May 7th): We will hold the final Drum Major workshop on Thursday this week. All students who are auditioning for an officer position are asked to attend the Drum Major Workshop at 2:15pm. There will be a 15-20 minute leadership discussion. All students who are auditioning for Drum Major must sign-up for an audition number by May 7th. All students who are auditioning for an officer position must complete their online application and contract by May 7th. Please refer to the Marching Pride Officer Applicant Canvas Page for more details.
 
Daileen Alfonso Scholarship Applications (Due May 6): All seniors who wish to apply for the Daileen Alfonso Scholarship must complete their applications by Thursday, May 6th. More information on how to apply can be found on our band website: https://www.prhsbands.org/daileen-alfonso-scholarship.html.
