What a spectacular weekend! We had over 350 students performing in the stands and on the field during half-time at last Friday’s game! Thank you Mr. Paxon Roan and Mr. Tom Howell for bringing nearly ninety-eight 7th and 8th graders to our 8th Grade Band Night! We hope to see all of the 8th graders next year with the Marching Pride! We’d also like to thank Mrs. Annamarie Magdaleno, Ms. Malerie Urquiola, Mrs. Claudia Sumalla, Mrs. Dana Rowtie, and our Auxiliary Team for all your help in organizing our Dancing Cubs! We really enjoyed performing with our little dancers and hope to see you at our next Dancing Cubs event!

Congratulations to the Marching Pride on an outstanding performance at the Lehigh Lightning Tournament of Bands! The Marching Pride won every caption in Class 5A: Best Music, Best Visual, Best General Effect, Best Percussion, and Best Auxiliary. Our Drum Majors won a Superior rating for their performance. We placed first in Class 5A and were Grand Champions placing first among 17 performing bands! This is the first time in the six years that the band has started competing that the Marching Pride has won Grand Champion in any competition. This is also the first time since 2012 that a Collier County Band has won Grand Champion at the Lehigh Lightning Tournament of Bands! (In 2012, the Golden Gate Titan Band won Grand Champion at Lehigh under the direction of Mr. Brett Robinson. One of the students in the band was our very own Mr. Joseph Bigler!)

Winning at Lehigh was a great moment for our students. They have been working very hard and as we all know, you don’t always get rewarded for your hard work. We’d like to thank the students, staff, and parents who all helped with last Saturday night’s competition. There are so many different components needed to make our performance possible, and we’re very privileged to have parents and staff members who are all willing to go the extra mile for our students. Thank you!

Congratulations to our Marchers of the Week: Raudel Irigoyen (woodwind), Alex Rojas (brass), Eric Perez (percussion), Callie Monville (auxiliary), and Lauren Blocker (officer). Congratulations to our Section of the Week, the Sousaphone Section led by Section Leaders Christopher Salazar and Christian Guerra!

Thank you to all of our parents who came out to help with last Friday night’s game, Cheesecake pick-ups, and Saturday’s competition! If you are interested in helping out for this week’s game, please email Ms. Fuentes at prhschap@gmail.com.

Please don’t forget that we have rehearsal tomorrow MONDAY and Thursday this week because we have the Collier County Band Show on Tuesday. There is no school on Thursday or Friday, but we still have rehearsal on Thursday evening and we have Senior Band Night on Friday evening! This Saturday, we’re traveling to Lakewood Ranch High School for our final competition of the season.

VERY IMPORTANT: Parents please remember that when picking up students from Saturday’s competition, please wait for students in a parking space or in the student drop off area by the flagpole. Please do not wait in the Faculty Parking Lot along the curb by the double door entrance to the band room. The trailers unload all of the equipment and instruments in that area. Thank you for your cooperation!
