A very special thank you to all of our parents who came out to help build the props for our show: Anthony Rowtie, Dana Rowtie, Wilfredo Figueroa, Cary Rojas, Claudia Sumalla, Miguel Font, Angel Barbera, Gretchen MacDonald, William Kidder, Bill Strom, Arthur Feria, and Antonio Pina. Thank you so much for your hard work and much needed help! We’re looking forward to using the props in this week’s rehearsal and hopefully premiering them very soon!!!
 
Congratulations to our Marchers of the Week: Anna Hudson (woodwind), Kevin Duque (brass), Nathaniel Cesar (percussion), Natalie Silguero (auxiliary), and Mikel Marante (officer). Congratulations to our Section of the Week, the Auxiliary Section led by captains Lauren Blocker and Samantha Rodriguez! We’d like to thank all of our parents and students who gave their time to help with last Friday’s football game and the Palmetto Elementary performance! Please email Ms. Eileen Fuentes at prhschap@gmail.com if you’re interested in volunteering for chaperones, truck crew, or concessions. 
 
Coupon Book Orders and the 1st Band Trip Payment are due this Tuesday, the Band Boosters are holding a Culver’s Spirit Night on Wednesday from 5:00-8:00pm, and we have another home game against Victory Christian this Friday, Call time is 5:00pm.

PRHS Open House (Mon. 8/26): PRHS is holding their Open House from 6:00-7:30pm. Parents will enter the building through the Media Center where they can pick up their student’s schedule. From there parents are welcome to visit their student’s teachers. Mrs. Robinson will be in the band room (Room 841) and Mr. Bigler will be in the orchestra (Room 838).  
 
Cheesecake Fundraiser (Starts Mon. 8/26): Mrs. Robinson is starting a Cheesecake Fundraiser this Monday. The Cheesecake Company will be giving presentations to every class to discuss pricing and profit margins. This fundraiser is completely optional and not a Band Booster Fundraiser. The purpose of this fundraiser is to give families an opportunity to raise money for this year’s Disney Trip. The profits from this fundraiser can only be used towards this year’s trip. It is not an option to keep a “balance” for future trips. Profits that are not used towards this year’s trip will turn into a donation to the PRHS Band Program. 
 
Prop Painting (Starts Mon. 8/26): We’re looking for parent and student volunteers to help paint props this Monday and Tuesday from 3:00-5:00pm. Parent volunteers should email Mr. Anthony Rowtie at kb2sfa@yahoo.com.Student volunteers will sign-up in the band room.
 
Coupon Book Fundraiser (Due Tues. 8/27): The PRHS Band Boosters are selling coupon books for $20. Each student is expected to sell one book. Profits from any book sold after the initial two can go towards this year’s Band Trip to Disney. 
 
Disney Trip Payment (Due Tues. 8/27): The first payment for the Disney Trip is due this Tuesday. Please email Mrs. Robinson for the information packet from last week’s meeting. The final deadline to sign up for the trip is September 27th.
 
After School Rehearsals (Tues. 8/27 & Thurs. 8/29): For this Thursday’s rehearsal, we’re asking all band students to wear a white t-shirt and all auxiliary a black t-shirt. From now on, all students will be asked to wear a certain colored shirt for Thursday’s rehearsal. This is to help enhance the director’s ability to clean drill. Please refer to the PRHS Bands Calendar for all rehearsal and performance dates. Please take note, we have a Saturday rehearsal scheduled on September 14 from 9:00am-4:00pm. All after school rehearsals are graded. Students who miss rehearsal may be suspended from upcoming performances. 
 
Culver’s Spirit Night (Wed. 8/28): The PRHS Band Boosters are hosting a Spirit Night at Culver’s on Immokalee from 5:00-8:00pm. Student and parent volunteers are needed to help bus tables and deliver food. Please email Mrs. Cary Rojas at crojas9871@me.com if you’re able to help out. Please help spread the word to your family and friends to stop by Culver’s on Wednesday. The PRHS Band Boosters will get a portion of all profits between 5:00-8:00pm. 
 
Home Game vs. Victory Christian HS (Fri. 8/30): The call time for all students is 5:00pm. We will be in full uniform this week. All band students will wear this year’s black band t-shirt, this year’s green marching band shorts, tall solid black socks, and marching band shoes. It’s very important that all band students wear tall, solid black socks that cover the ankle and calf. All auxiliary students will wear this year’s pregame uniform, tights, this year’s black outdoor auxiliary shoes, earrings, full make-up and hair. Auxiliary students are reminded that their tights need to be pulled over their feet. Please do not fold your tights.
 
2019-2020 Marching Pride Swag: Marching Pride water bottles will be available for purchase during lunch in the band room for $15. The rest of our swag is now available for viewing on our band website. The order form is available online and in the band room. Orders will be collected in the “Band Booster Box” located in the band room.

What a great first game of the season! The Bears won 7-0 against South Fort Myers and the Marching Pride had an outstanding performance on the field! This week we plan on adding more drill to the show and hopefully introducing some of the field props!
 
Congratulations to our Marchers of the Week: Jason Viruet (woodwind), Jennifer Peralta (brass), Ashley Gutierrez (percussion), Susannah Glesmer (auxiliary), and Aubrie Engel (officer). Congratulations to our Section of the Week, the Flute Section led by section leaders Eve Nahs-Chandler and Hope Kordelski! We’d like to thank all of our parents and students who gave their time to help at Publix this weekend, and a very special thank you to Mrs. Cary Rojas for organizing the fundraiser!
 
This week we have our Band Trip Meeting on Monday at 6:30pm in the auditorium, followed by a Make-up Parent Volunteer Training for Concessions at 7:30pm. This Friday’s game is another home game and we plan on premiering our new band and auxiliary uniforms!

Disney Band Trip Meeting (Mon. 8/19): Our first trip meeting will be at 6:30pm in the auditorium. Check-in will start at 6:00pm. Please check-in at the front of the auditorium to pick up the meeting packet. Interested parents and students are strongly recommended to attend. If you’re not able to make the meeting, the information will be sent out via email and you will be responsible for understanding the deadlines and requirements. 
 
 
Make-up Parent Volunteer Training for Concessions (Mon. 8/19): All parents interested in volunteering with concessions must complete a required training test. The training process takes approximately 30 minutes. We will hold a make-up training session on Monday after the Band Trip meeting around 7:30pm. 
 
 
Marching Band After School Rehearsals (Tues. 8/20 & Thurs. 8/22): Please refer to the PRHS Bands Calendar for all dates. Please take note, we have a Saturday rehearsal scheduled on September 14 from 9:00am-4:00pm. Palmetto Elementary Pep Rally (Fri. 8/23): Palmetto Elementary has invited the Marching Pride to perform at their Pep Rally this Friday. Unfortunately, we cannot take everyone and we can only take one bus. Students were selected based on officer position rank, instrumentation needs, and then seniority. A roster of students who were selected to attend is posted in the band room. Call time will be 7:45am in the band room. Band students will wear this year’s white band t-shirt, this year’s green marching band shorts, short socks, and dark athletic shoes. Auxiliary students will wear this year’s white band t-shirt, black shorts, tights, and black auxiliary shoes. We will return to PRHS around 9:30am. Please speak with your 1st, 2nd, and 3rdperiod teachers.
 
 
Home Game vs. Tampa Catholic HS (Fri. 8/23): The call time for all students is 4:30pm. We will be in full uniform this week. All band students will wear this year’s white band t-shirt, this year’s green marching band shorts, tall solid black socks, and marching band shoes. All auxiliary students will wear this year’s pregame uniform, tights, and their black outdoor auxiliary shoes. (Auxiliary will receive their pregame uniform in class this week. Band students who ordered and paid for their shoes, will receive their marching band shoes in class this week.)

Help has been very limited and as of lately, we’ve only had two parents helping: Anthony Rowtie and Miguel Font. The students need to practice performing with the props. Please reach out if you’re available.

Thank you to all of our students, student officers, and parent volunteers who all helped to make Band Camp 2019 a success! The students accomplished a lot and we’re off to a great start of the season. We hope to see you at our Family Night Pre-Season Performance this Thursday at 8:00pm in the stadium. 
 
Congratulations to our Marchers of the Week: Carly Gonzalez (woodwind), Danilo Andrade (brass), Ray Patterson (percussion), Samantha Mugavero (auxiliary), and Anthony Bonet (officer). We want to recognize Derek Devlin, who was last week’s officer of the week. We accidentally left him off last week’s update. Congratulations to our Section of the Week, the Mellophone Section led by section leaders Jayden Aimaro and Austin Sweigart! These students will be posted on the band website every week at: https://www.prhsbands.org/2019-2020-info.html.
 
The Marching Pride will be performing at the Pep Rally on the first day of school at 1:25pm. Band students will wear this year’s white band t-shirt and auxiliary will wear this year’s black band t-shirt to perform. Friday is our first football game of the season! See below for more details.

Marching Pride Order Forms & Payments (Past due): This weekend we placed our second order for marching band shoes, garment bags, gloves, auxiliary shoes, tights, earrings, duffle bags, and pirouettes. If you have not turned in your order form and/or payments that were due at the Kick-Off Meeting, please do so at your earliest convenience. This is the last week for any late orders. If your order is not placed by the end of this week, you will be responsible for ordering your own shoes, which will be more costly.
 
 
Required Forms & Physical (Due Tues. 8/13): Forms can be found at: https://www.prhsbands.org/uploads/1/0/7/8/107847845/required_band_forms.pdf. These forms are extremely important, please do not delay on turning these in! The hard deadline for these forms is Tuesday, August 13th at 2:05pm. Students will not be allowed to after school rehearsals or performances without their forms. The only exception is made for physicals. If your student cannot complete the physical by this Tuesday, please email Mrs. Robinson the date for when the physical is scheduled.
 
 
Pep Rally (Tues. 8/13): PRHS is having a pep rally for the first day of school. All Marching Pride students are performing. The pep rally is scheduled at 1:25pm. All Marching Pride students will be dismissed from their 7th period class at 1:10pm—pending teacher permission. (Your 7th period teacher does not need to dismiss you. If your teacher asks you to stay till the bell, you can catch up with us in the gym.) When you are dismissed from class, promptly report to the band room to get your instrument/poms and line up outside in “lance.” All band students must wear this year’s white band t-shirt to perform and all auxiliary students must wear this year’s black band t-shirt to perform. You don’t have to wear the t-shirt to school, but you do have to wear the t-shirt in order to perform at the Pep Rally. 
 
 
Marching Band After School Rehearsals (Tues. 8/13 & Thurs. 8/15): Our after school rehearsals start this week. We typically rehearse after school on Tuesdays and Thursday from 5:30-8:30pm. Family Night Pre-Season Performance (Thurs. 8/15): All family and friends are invited to our Pre-Season Performance in the stadium at 8:00pm. There is no admission charge. Spectators may start to enter the stadium at 7:30pm. In the event of inclement weather, we will move the performance to the gym. 
 
 
Home Game vs. South Fort Myers HS (Fri. 8/16): Our first football game of the season is a home game. The call time for all students is 4:30pm. We will not be in full uniform. Instead all band students will wear this year’s black band t-shirt, this year’s green marching band shorts, black socks, and dark colored athletic shoes. All auxiliary students will wear this year’s white band t-shirt, black shorts, tights, and their black outdoor auxiliary shoes. (Auxiliary will receive their tights and shoes in class this week.)

Publix Fundraiser (Sat. 8/17 & Sun. 8/18): Our next fundraiser event will be at the Publix at Pebblebrook from 10:00am-6:00pm. We are asking for volunteers to work 2 hour shifts. The shift will require you to sit at a table asking for donations as customers exit the Publix.
