We’re starting our Cheesecake Fundraiser this week. This fundraiser is a trip fundraiser and will give students the opportunity to raise money for their trip to Chicago. If any of you still have Coupon Book Orders, we are still accepting these until Friday.
 
Band Handbook Contracts were due in class last week. If you need another copy of the Event Calendar or the Contract, they are located at the end of the Band Handbook: http://www.prhsbands.org/uploads/1/0/7/8/107847845/2018-2019_band_handbook.pdf.
 
We’re having difficulty in sending emails to all Gmail accounts. Please check your security settings to make sure our emails are not being rejected or marked as “junk mail.”

Cheesecake Trip Fundraiser: We’re starting a Cheesecake Fundraiser this week. This fundraiser is completely optional. Students will have the opportunity to raise money towards their Chicago Band Trip. 40% of all profits will go towards their trip. All students may participate in this fundraiser. All profits that are not used towards the Chicago Trip will turn into general donations to the PRHS Bands. 
 
 
Class Schedule Changes: Several students are not currently enrolled in a band class. In order to participate in marching band, students are required to be enrolled in a band class! If you do not have band on your schedule, please schedule an appointment with your counselor this week. Students will not be allowed to perform in this week’s game if they are not enrolled in a band class!
 
 
Marching Band Shoes, Auxiliary Shoes, Flag Bags, and Guard Gloves: These items have been ordered and will be given to students this week. If you have not yet paid for your student’s items, please make a payment this week.
 
 
Band Practice Attire: This Thursday’s band attire is green shirt and black shorts. Students are being reminded to follow the school dress code policy when attending after school rehearsals. 
 
 
Home Game vs. Riverdale: Our second football game of the year is this Friday! Call time is 5:00pm. Band students will wear this year’s gray band t-shirts, this year’s marching band shorts, calf length solid black socks and marching band shoes. Band students will wear this underneath their marching band uniforms. Auxiliary will wear their pregame uniforms and halftime uniforms. All students must park in the back of the school when they arrive.
 
 
Band Room After School Hours: The band room will close at 2:30pm at the end of every school day. The band room will reopen an hour before rehearsal starts. On Friday, the band room will close at 11:30am and will reopen at 4:00pm. Students are reminded that they are not allowed on campus unless a teacher is supervising them. If students choose to stay on school grounds, they must wait outside of the building. 
 
 
Coupon Book Fundraiser: We are still accepting Coupon Book Fundraisers till this Friday. We are selling coupon books for $20. All students are asked to sell at least 1 book. After the first 2 books sold, students have the opportunity to raise money towards their Chicago Band Trip. Order forms are available in the band room. For more information, please contact Mrs. Amy Yates at aaayates@aol.com. 
 
 
Band SWAG: Band Swag will now be available for sale and pick-up at the end of every Tuesday night rehearsal by the flagpole. Please email Mr. Buddy Rainey for more information at buddyrainey2@gmail.com.  
 
 
Chicago Band Trip: Student registration for the Chicago Band Trip is now closed.If you need to make special arrangements for your payments, please contact our Trip Coordinator Kim Mikitka. Kim can be reached by phone at (800) 373-1423 ext. 243 or via email at kmikitka@bobrogerstravel.com. Office hours are Monday through Friday 7:30am – 4:30pm (central time).
 
 
Parent Volunteers Needed: Please contact the following Booster Chairs to volunteer this week: (Chaperoning) Mrs. Eileen Fuentes prhschaps@gmail.com, (Concessions) Mr. Buddy Rainey buddyrainey2@gmail.com, (Truck Crew) Mr. Wilfredo Figueroa figgy736@googlemail.com. All parent volunteers will need a parking pass for this Friday’s game. Please park in the parking lot located behind the school. Please do not park in the bus depot.

What an exciting first home game! Our football team had a great victory and the Marching Pride performed well during halftime and throughout the game! Thank you to all of our parent volunteers who helped with concessions, moving equipment and chaperoning!

A list of everyone who has placed an order for these items has been attached to this email. If your order is missing, please contact Mrs. Robinson at robina2@collierschools.com.
If you have not turned in your order for these items, please do so ASAP. We will be sizing students for their jacket orders during lunch this week. This year’s band camp was a great success! We’re looking forward to our End of Band Camp Performance, this Tuesday at 8:00pm in Bear Stadium. Let’s hope that the weather cooperates. If it doesn’t, we’ll move the performance to the gymnasium. 
 
If you have not already done so, please be sure to turn in your required forms when you arrive to rehearsal. Students will not be allowed to perform on Friday if they’re missing certain forms! More information is provided below.
 
It’s highly recommended that students continue to hydrate throughout the week and use bug spray for our evening rehearsals.

2018 Required Forms: Several students have yet to turn in their required forms. Students will not be allowed to attend Friday’s football game performance if they are missing any of the following forms: Emergency Contact, Travel Authorization, Liability & Consent, Media, and/or Random Drug Testing form. Band Performance at Freshmen Orientation (Mon. 8/13, Call 6:15pm): All students interested in performing for the Freshmen Orientation should report to the band room at 6:15pm. Band students should wear this year’s green band t-shirt and auxiliary should wear a white t-shirt, preferably a white PRHS t-shirt. Freshmen are not able to attend this performance since they are attending orientation. 
 
 
End of Band Camp Performance (Tues. 8/14 from 8:00pm):All parents, family and friends are invited to see our Post Band Camp Performance in Bear Stadium weather permitting. The performance will be moved to the gymnasium if there’s inclement weather. 
 
 
First Day of School (Wed. 8/15):Wednesday is the first day of school for students! There will be a pep rally at the end of the day and the band will be performing. Students will be dismissed early from their 7thperiod classes and report to the band room. All Marching Pride students are asked to wear a band t-shirt for the pep rally performance. 
 
 
Home Game vs. Ida Baker (Fri. 8/17, Call 5:00pm):Our first football game of the year is this Friday! Call time is 5:00pm. Band students will wear this year’s green band t-shirt, this year’s black marching band shorts, ankle length socks and dark colored athletic shoes. Auxiliary will wear a white t-shirt, black shorts, tights and auxiliary shoes or athletic shoes. The game should end around 9:45pm—however, there may be a weather delay, so please be aware that it’s very hard to determine pick-up times for game nights. 
 
 
Coupon Book Fundraiser:Our Band Boosters are holding the first fundraiser of the year. We are selling coupon books for $20. All students are asked to sell at least 1 book. After the first 2 books sold, students have the opportunity to raise money towards their Chicago Band Trip. Order forms are available in the band room. Chicago Band Trip: The last day to sign up for the Chicago Band Trip is Monday, August 13th. This is a hard deadline, as BRT will be purchasing our airline tickets that week. If you’re interested in going on the trip, please contact our BRT coordinator Kim Mikitka ASAP. Kim can be reached by phone at (800) 373-1423 ext. 243 or via email at kmikitka@bobrogerstravel.com. Office hours are Monday through Friday 7:30am – 4:30pm (central time).
  
 
All State Auditions: All State Auditions will be on Saturday, September 15th. Students interested in auditioning for All State must notify Mrs. Robinson by August 15th.
