Welcome back! We hope that everyone had a very Happy Thanksgiving! These next three weeks are jam packed with holiday festivities. Be sure to stay updated with all that’s happening by checking the band calendar and our weekly updates.
On Monday, our Band Boosters are holding a Spirit Night at Outback Steakhouse in Founders Square! The Spirit Night goes from open to close, so please help to spread the word. Just be sure to mention the attached flyer when you go to pay your bill so that a portion of your payment goes towards the Marching Pride! Our concert bands and indoor auxiliary groups all have after school rehearsals this week. Wind Symphony is 1st period, Wind Ensemble is 3rd period, and Symphonic Winds is 4th period. Percussion students received their band placements the week before break. On Tuesday, select students will travel to Aubrey Rogers High School for All-County Honor Band Auditions. Good luck to all our participating students! Audition times have been updated, so please be sure to check the updated schedule in the band room on Monday. On Friday, the Marching Pride will be performing in the Ave Maria Hometown Christmas Parade and the Jazz Bands will be performing throughout the evening. We hope to see you there! Make-up Assignments: All missed rehearsals and performances will require a make-up assignment. Instructions on how to request a make-up assignment are posted in Canvas under “Modules.” Concert Band Attire: (These uniforms are for all band students.) All band students will need a concert band uniform. It is each band family’s responsibility to order and purchase these uniforms. All uniforms take at least 2 weeks to be shipped, please do not wait until the last minute. Concert gowns and pants will need to be hemmed, so please take that into consideration when placing your orders. Disney Band Trip Information: We are missing quite a few second payments and room request forms for the Disney Band Trip. Please be sure to turn these in on Monday during class. More details were sent via email. All-County Honor Band Auditions (Tues. 11/28): This year’s All-County Honor Band Auditions will be held at Aubrey Rogers High School. Audition times and room locations have changed and will be re-posted in the band room on Monday. The required contract and travel authorization forms are PAST DUE. Students will not be allowed to audition without the required forms. If you still need to turn in the required forms, please do so by Monday in class. Ave Maria Hometown Christmas Parade (Fri. 12/1): The Marching Pride and Jazz Bands will be performing at the Ave Maria Hometown Christmas Parade on Friday, December 1st. We will rehearse from 2:15-3:30pm on that day. Healthy Snack will be served at 3:30pm. The parade starts at 6:00pm. The jazz bands will perform after the parade. We are typically on the corner of Annunciation and Seton across from The Bean. Band students will wear full uniform with the gray Marching Pride shirt, marching band shorts, tall crew black socks, and marching band shoes. Instead of our marching band hats, all students are encouraged to wear a Santa hat or any other kind of holiday themed headwear. Auxiliary students will wear their pregame top, black leggings, tights, and black auxiliary shoes. Auxiliary students are also encouraged to wear a Santa hat or any other kind of holiday themed headwear. Jazz band students will march in their jazz concert attire and marching band shoes. A full detailed schedule was sent via email. Alternate Travel Requests for Non-Jazz Band Students (Due by Wed. 11/29): If a parent needs to pick up their student from a band event, they must turn in Alternate Travel Request Form. This form can be found on the band website: www.prhsbands.org/2023-2024-info.html. Jazz Band students will receive a special Alternate Travel Form in class on Monday. Winterfest Concerts (Thurs. 12/7 and Fri. 12/8): Winterfest is the annual PRHS Music Department Holiday Concert. There will be two concerts, one on Thursday, December 7th and one on Friday, December 8th. These concerts will feature the PRHS concert bands, orchestras, choir, jazz bands, auxiliary, percussion, and the Marching Pride! Doors will open at 5:45pm and the concerts will start at 6:30pm in the auditorium. Admission is $5.00. We are accepting cash and checks. Tickets can be purchased ahead of time through Mrs. Robinson, Mr. Claro, or Mr. Bigler before school, during lunch, or after school starting on Monday, December 4th. Tickets will also be available at the ticket booth upon arrival on the day of the concerts. When pre-ordering tickets, students will need to specify if they’re purchasing tickets for the Thursday or Friday night concert. Band Picture Day (Tues. 12/12): Band pictures will be on Tuesday, December 12th during class. There is no make-up day, so please do your best to be in class on 12/12. Band students should wear clothes that can fit underneath their marching band uniform. (No long sleeves and no baggy clothes.) We recommend that all band students wear their hair down or at least half up for these pictures. Students will need their gloves and instrument, but they do not need their marching band shoes or hats. Auxiliary students will wear their WNW show uniform. Hair needs to be styled down and they will need their earrings. They will choose their own make-up. Dance students will pose with silver poms, weapon line will need their rifles, and flag line will use their Part 1 flag. Parents can order pictures online at www.pdiportraits.com. All online orders received by picture day will receive a FREE 2024 photo calendar. Congratulations to our Marching Pride on completing another amazing season! We were so proud of their performance at Prelims on Saturday and could not ask for anything more! While we were sad to miss a spot in Finals by one placement, but we can’t help but be proud of our students for their tremendous effort and outstanding accomplishments. It’s been a remarkable season, and we couldn’t have done it without our Marching Band Staff, Parent Volunteers, and Band Boosters! Thank you, Band Staff, Anthony Claro, Annamarie Magdaleno, Melissa Sieja, Shelby Blocker, and Mario Mistretta for your dedication to our students! It is a pleasure and honor working with all of you. Thank you, Band Boosters, Eileen Fuentes, Sandra Llorca, Erika Guerra, Daniel Guerra, Arthur Feria, Bill Strom, Tatiana Ryan, Michelle Jones, and Nidia Law for your hard work and support of our students and program. Thank you to all our parents who have volunteered to help with truck crew, concessions, chaperoning, uniforms, props, and MBI. The success of our students is attributed to your hard work, dedication, love, and support for our students. This week should feel like a breeze after the past 6 weeks! We have our Tri-M Induction Ceremony in the band room on Tuesday night. Cookie dough orders are schedule to be delivered to the school on Wednesday. Students will be able to pick up their orders after school. Dance will practice after school on Tuesday and Thursday this week. Students who are auditioning for All-County Honor Band will have their pre-audition with Mrs. Robinson on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. We will also do percussion band audition placements in class on Tuesday and Wednesday. Symphonic Winds and Wind Symphony will have tentative chair placements for Winterfest, determined by Mrs. Robinson and Mr. Claro. These students will do their official chair placement auditions after Winterfest on December 13 and 14. Please don’t forget that the second Disney trip payment is due this Friday along with Room Requests. This week we have our FINAL marching band rehearsal on Wednesday! This will be a dress rehearsal for our State Performance. After the rehearsal, we’re holding a Family Night/State Send-Off Performance at 8:30pm. Admission is free, and all are invited to attend! The Band Boosters will hold their monthly meeting in the band room on Monday. In class all students in Wind Symphony, Symphonic Winds, and Percussion will have their playing tests, which will determine their seating for concert band. Wind Ensemble will have their auditions next week. Auxiliary will have their indoor auditions after school on Tuesday. On Saturday, the Marching Pride is traveling to Clearwater High School for their final competition at State!!! Auxiliary will wear their normal white on black and change into their show uniform for the State Send-Off Performance. State Send-Off Performance (Wed. 11/8): The Marching Pride will have their final rehearsal on Wednesday, November 8th. We will also have a State Send-Off Performance at 8:30pm for family and friends in Bear Stadium. We hope to see you there! FMBC Marching Band State Championships (Sat. 11/11): Thank Marching Pride is competing at State on Saturday, November 11th. To help cover the cost of transportation, all students will have to pay a fee of $25. This fee will be due by Wednesday, November 8th.
