Congratulations to all of our band students who completed their 2021-2022 auditions last week. We hope to post percussion results later this week. Band results for woodwinds and brass will not be posted for another week or so. Course requests are still being finalized and there are some students who have yet to make-up their auditions.

This week our percussion and auxiliary students will hold their end of the year recital, the Rhythm of the Pride, this Thursday, April 29th at 6:30pm. Tickets must be purchased in order to attend. More information is provided below.

Wind Ensemble students will resume their after school rehearsals this week. Symphonic Band and Symphonic Wind Symphony will resume their after school rehearsals next week.

Thank you to everyone who came out to the 2021-2022 Marching Pride Information Meeting. If you missed the meeting, the information packet and commitment forms have been posted on the band website: https://www.prhsbands.org/2021-2022-info.html. Information packets are also available through Mrs. Robinson in the band office. Please contact Mrs. Robinson if you have any questions. Commitment forms and fees are due by May 17th.

This Week’s Schedule:

Monday (4/26)
  • Drum Major Workshop, 2:15-3:30pm
Tuesday (4/27)
  • Wind Ensemble, 2:15-3:15pm
Wednesday (4/28)
  • Rhythm of the Pride Dress Rehearsal, 4:30-7:30pm
Thursday (4/29)
  • Drum Major Workshop, 2:15-3:30pm
  • Rhythm of the Pride Recital, Call 5:30pm, Performance 6:30pm

All Brass Students: All brass students are now required to bring a small towel to class, rehearsal, and performances. These towels will be used to empty out their instruments as they play. Students are no longer allowed to empty out their instrument condensation directly to the floor and it is too distracting for students to constantly empty out their instruments by the garbage can. Mrs. Robinson has provided absorption pads all year. Students are now required to provide their own towel from now on. These towels should be cleaned on a regular basis.

Rhythm of the Pride Recital (Thurs. April 29): The Rhythm of the Pride Recital will start at 6:30pm. This event is the end of the year recital for our auxiliary team and percussion students. Doors will open at 5:45pm. Tickets will be sold at $5, but there will be a limit to how many tickets can be sold. Each student will have the opportunity to purchase 2 tickets. This will help to ensure that audience members can be socially distant during the recital. Masks will also be required by all in attendance at all times. Tickets can be purchased before or after class by percussion and auxiliary students starting on Monday, April 26th. On Wednesday, April 28th, all unclaimed tickets will be sold on a first come, first serve basis. Tickets will not be available at the door.

Drum Major Workshops & Officer Auditions: Drum Major workshops will start this week after school in the band room. All students who are applying for a band officer position are encouraged to attend. All information regarding Officer Auditions can be found on the 2021-2022 Marching Pride Officer Applicant Canvas Page. Students should contact Mrs. Robinson if they would like access to this page.

Daileen Alfonso Scholarship Applications (Due May 6): All seniors who wish to apply for the Daileen Alfonso Scholarship must complete their applications by Thursday, May 6th. More information on how to apply can be found on our band website: https://www.prhsbands.org/daileen-alfonso-scholarship.html.

2021 Graduation Band: The band is performing at graduation this year! All non-graduating band students who attend school on campus will participate and perform. There will be a graduation band rehearsal on Wednesday, May 26th from 2:15-3:15pm. Graduation is on Friday, May 28th. Call time will be at 7:30am. We will rehearse briefly in the morning. The graduation ceremony will start at 9:00am and will end around 10:30am. Attire will be a band t-shirt and khaki or black shorts--no denim and no athletic shorts.
