Congratulations to last week’s Marchers of the Week: Alexander Hernandez, Breanna Daly, Nikolai Coletta, Yulizay Figueredo, and Derek Devlin! Thank you to all students who participated in Spirit Week! I hope everyone enjoyed their Homecoming last week! It was very exciting to see so many Marching Pride students in the Homecoming Court and even more exciting to see our very own Scout Rogers and Steve Gutierrez-Labra as this year’s Homecoming Queen and King!

Band Booster Meeting (Mon. 10/1):​ All parents are invited to attend our monthly Band Booster Meeting at 7:00pm in the Band Room. We will be discussion parent volunteer needs for Band Show and our Marching Band Invitational. Please attend to see how you can help!
 
 
Thursday Band Practice Attire (Thurs. 10/4): This Thursday’s band attire is gray shirt and black bottoms. In addition, students will be wearing their marching band bibbers and hats during this rehearsal. This rehearsal will be in the back practice field!
 
 
Away Game @Immokalee (Fri. 10/5): Healthy Snack will be distributed at 3:30pm. Call time is 4:00pm. Band students will arrive to call wearing this year’s green band t-shirt, athletic shorts, calf-length solid black socks and marching band shoes. Auxiliary students will arrive with hair and make-up done wearing their show uniform.  Students are reminded to bring a charged phone and money for third quarter break. Parents, please check our Twitter and Facebook for updates on our return to PRHS.  
 
 
Mariner Marching Competition (Sat. 10/6): This is our first competition of the season. Attendance is required and will be graded. Call time is 9:00am. We will rehearse from 9:00-12:00pm. Students should bring a packed lunch. Departure from PRHS will be 1:00pm. Our preliminary performance will be at 3:30pm. The schedule for finals will be announced at 5:00pm. The competition will end around 10:00pm. Estimated return to PRHS will be 11:30pm. Band students will arrive to call wearing this year’s gray band t-shirt, marching band shorts, calf-length solid black socks and marching band shoes. Auxiliary students will change into their show uniform before we leave for Mariner. Students are reminded to bring a charged phone and money for concessions. Parents, please check our Twitter and Facebook for updates on our return to PRHS.  
 
 
Band Show and MBI Program Ad Fundraiser (Due Mon. 10/8): All families are encouraged to participate in this fundraiser. Students who did not participate in the Coupon Book Fundraiser are asked to sell at least 1 Program Ad. These ads will be placed in the CCPS Band Show Program on October 20thand the PRHS Marching Band Invitational on November 3rd. Program ads can serve as a business ad or as a “shout out” page from parents to their students. Order forms are attached to this email. I’m sure some of the new businesses that have recently opened in the area would be interested in advertising to more prospective patrons in the area!
 
 
Wednesday Rehearsal (Wed. 10/10): Just a reminder, if you haven’t noticed we are rehearsing on Tuesday and Wednesday in the week of the Lehigh Competition. Both rehearsals are from 5:30-8:30pm. Students who miss the Wednesday rehearsal will not perform in the away game at Barron Collier or in the Lehigh Competition. Please remember to check the band calendar on a regular basis for our upcoming rehearsals and performances. 
 
 
Lehigh Marching Competition (Sat. 10/13): Please remember that we have our second competition on Saturday, October 13th. Call time will be 11:30am. Students should eat lunch before arriving at 11:30am call. Estimated return to PRHS will be 11:30pm. 
 
 
Chicago Band Trip: All required travel and medication forms are due next week on Monday, October 1st. These forms can be found on the Trip Information page on the band website at http://www.prhsbands.org/2018-band-trip-info.html. Our next trip meeting will be on Monday, October 8th. All parents and students are asked to attend this meeting to receive important information on luggage, travel requirements, and chaperone groups. If you need to make special arrangements for your payments, please contact our Trip Coordinator Kim Mikitka by phone (800) 373-1423 ext. 243 or via email at kmikitka@bobrogerstravel.com. 
 
 
Parent Volunteers: Please contact the following Booster Chairs to volunteer this week: (Chaperoning) Mrs. Eileen Fuentes at prhschaps@gmail.com, (Healthy Snack) Mr. Buddy Rainey at buddyrainey2@gmail.com, or (Truck Crew) Mr. Wilfredo Figueroa at figgy736@googlemail.com. All parent volunteers will need to wear the orange lanyard for this Friday’s game. Mr. Bigler and/or Mrs. Fuentes will give our lanyards upon arrival on Friday. Please remember to return your lanyard at the end of the evening. ​

We were so disappointed that we couldn’t stay to help support our football team at last Friday’s game. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate. Thankfully, our team had a great victory against South Fort Myers and we’re looking forward to this week’s Homecoming game!
 
All students are encouraged to show their school spirit by participating in Spirit Week! The themes are listed below. Also, students don’t forget to vote for this year’s Homecoming Queen and King at https://vote.electionrunner.com/election/bNVOY.

Cheesecake Fundraiser: The delivery date is currently this Wednesday, 9/26. We’re trying to move that to Thursday the 27th. An email confirming the delivery date and time will be sent on Monday. Thank you for your patience. 
 
 
PRHS Open House/Curriculum Night (Mon. 9/24): All parents are invited to come and visit their student’s classrooms and teachers from 6:30-8:00pm. Mr. Bigler’s AICE Music Class and Jazz Band parents will meet in Room 833. All other band and auxiliary classes will meet with Mrs. Robinson in Room 841.

Homecoming Game vs. Naples (Fri. 9/28): Call time is 5:00pm. Band students will arrive to call wearing this year’s gray band t-shirt, black marching shorts, calf-length solid black socks and marching band shoes. Auxiliary students will arrive with hair and make-up done wearing their pre-game uniform. The band will be performing post-game due to the Homecoming festivities that take place during half time.
 
 
Mariner Marching Competition (Sat. 10/6): This is our first competition of the season. Attendance is required and will be graded. Call time is 9:00am. We will rehearse from 9:00-12:00pm. We had a very successful home game against Estero High School! What a great win for our football team and the band had a great half-time show! Thank you to all parents who volunteered their time to help out.
 
Congratulations to Paige Brokopp, Nikolai Coletta, Jariel Hernandez and Eric Robinson for completing their All State audition on Saturday! Results will be posted in late October/early November. 
 
We’d also like to extend a big thank you to the drumline students who played for the Little Bears Football Club on Saturday!

Band Memorization Test (Fri. 9/21): Band and auxiliary students will be tested in groups during class on Friday. The performance test will be on Part 3 m. 122-135. This test will be graded. 
 
 
Healthy Snack (Fri. 9/21): Healthy snack will be distributed at 3:30pm in the band room. Please show up at 3:30pm to pick up your meal. 
 
 
Away Game at South Fort Myers (Fri. 9/21): Call time is 4:00pm. Band students will arrive to call wearing this year’s green band t-shirt, black marching band shorts, calf length solid black socks and marching band shoes. Auxiliary students should arrive to call wearing their half-time uniforms. Students are reminded to bring a charged phone and money for concessions to South Fort Myers. 
 
 
Band Room After School Hours: The band room will close at 2:30pm at the end of every school day. The band room will reopen an hour before rehearsal starts. On Friday, the band room will remain open after school since healthy snack is at 3:30pm. Students are reminded that they are not allowed on campus unless a teacher is supervising them. If students choose to stay on school grounds, they must wait outside of the building. 
 
 
Marching Band Rehearsal Saturday, 9/22 CANCELLED: The Marching Pride will not be rehearsing on Saturday, September 22nd as originally scheduled. Considering the fact that the students have a band event every Saturday in October, we’ve decided to give the students a bit of a break.
 
 
Band Show and MBI Program Ad Fundraiser: We will be starting our Program Ad Fundraiser this week. Students who did not sell a coupon book will be required to sell at least 1 Program Ad. Program ads can serve as a business ad or they may serve as a place for parents to cheer on their student. These ads will be in our programs for the CCPS Band Show on October 20thand the 15th Annual Marching Band Invitational on November 3rd. Order forms were sent via email.
 
 
Chicago Band Trip Forms: All students registered for the Chicago Band Trip should’ve received a separate email with information regarding required trip forms. All forms are due by Monday, October 1st and can be found at the following link: http://www.prhsbands.org/2018-band-trip-info.html.

Chicago Band Trip: Please note that our next Trip Meeting is on Monday, October 5th. If you need to make special arrangements for your payments, please contact our Trip Coordinator Kim Mikitka. Kim can be reached by phone at (800) 373-1423 ext. 243 or via email at kmikitka@bobrogerstravel.com. Office hours are Monday through Friday 7:30am – 4:30pm (central time).
