Last Saturday, we had our CCPS All-County Honors Band Concerts. The Concert Band was conducted by Dr. Tina DiMeglio from the University of South Florida and the Symphonic Band was conducted by Dr. DuWayne Dale from Morehead State University.

Students in the All-County Honors Concert Band included: Anna Hudson, Nayelis Gomez, Jonathan Eysaman, Brisayda Chavez, Santiago Nieto, Yulizay Figueredo, Amanda Moraga, Rachel Trejo, Anthony Castillo, Shelby Newransky, Wilens Saint Louis, and Eddie Feliciano.

Students in the All-County Honors Symphonic Band included: Ellie Carvajal, Olivia Strom, Remington Newton, Christal Ordoñez, Christopher Alvarez, Blake Waligora, Daniel Ramirez Santiago, and Michael Gordon.
 
Congratulations to all our All-County Honor Band students! We’re so proud of all of you!

School Instrument Rental Fees (Past Due): All band students who are using a school owned instrument must turn in their $100 rental fee. Students who paid the rental fee during marching band season, do not have to pay another fee. 
 
Concert Attire (Due 2/15): All band students will wear the assigned concert attire for the Mid-Year Band Concert and District Concert MPA. The required attire is attached to this email. The pants listed for the gentlemen attire is out of stock, but can be purchased at this site: https://www.concertattire.com/3024P_Polyester_Adjustable_Elastic_Waist_Trousers_p/3024p.htm. Please contact Mrs. Robinson at [email protected] if you have any concerns.     
 
Symphonic Winds After School Concert Band Rehearsal (Mon. 1/31): Symphonic Winds students are being reminded that this week’s rehearsal is on Monday from 2:15-3:15pm instead of Thursday. Thursday, January 31st is an Early Release Day.  
 
District Solo & Ensemble MPA (Fri. 2/4 and Sat. 2/5): District Solo & Ensemble MPA will be at Lely High School. All band students will have to provide their own transportation to and from Lely High School. The performance schedule will be updated tomorrow. The updated schedule will be posted in the band room. All performing students will be required number their original scores by Wednesday, February 2nd.     
 
District Auxiliary MPA (Sat. 2/5): District Auxiliary MPA will be at Lely High School. All auxiliary students are required to ride the bus to and from Lely High School. All students performing a solo will be required to provide their music in MP3 format by Monday, January 31st through Canvas. Call time is 9:30am at PRHS full dressed with hair and makeup. Students should bring money to buy food at the Lely concession stand. The approximate return to PRHS is 7:00pm.
 
Universal Studios Band Trip Reminders:
  • Band Trip Hoodie order forms are attached to this email. All orders and payments are due by Tuesday, 2/1. 
  • All required forms are due by Monday, 2/14.
  • If your student will require prescription medication while on the trip, you will have to turn in all prescription and a Medication Authorization formed (signed by your student’s physician) to the school nurse by Monday, 2/14.
 
Instrument Repair & Equipment: Our trusted local vendors are Cadence Music (239) 275-6262 and Christman Music (239) 254-8863. If needed, please be sure to get your instrument fixed and have all your needed supplies. Christman Music visits PRHS on Mondays and Cadence Music comes on Fridays.

All student band trip payments, commitment forms and room requests were due last week. An updated student trip roster was sent via email. Please review the roster and contact Mrs. Robinson if your student is going on this trip and is missing from this list.

We have our Trip Meeting on Monday at 6:30pm in the auditorium. There will be important forms and information given at this meeting. Please plan to arrive before 6:30pm. We will have a check-in table at the front of the auditorium. Students and parents will receive the meeting handouts and roommate assignments at check-in. We will begin the meeting as close to 6:30pm as possible. The meeting should take 45-60 minutes.  

This week we have All-County Honor Band at Golden Gate HS. All participating students are reminded to check their rehearsal schedules and prepare their concert attire. The concert will be at Golden Gate HS on Saturday, January 28th starting at 3:00pm.

Drumline Performance at Corkscrew Elementary School (Wed. 1/26): The drumline will be performing at CES on Wednesday. Call time is 7th period. Students will warm up and then walk or car pool over to CES. All performing students will wear this year’s silver Marching Pride shirt.

This past weekend was the FMEA All-State Conference. We were so proud of all our students who made All-State. Congratulations once again to Ellie Carvajal (band), Ryan Robinson (orchestra), Teo Castro-Juarez (orchestra), and Cara Naso (choir)!
 
This week we start our after-school concert band rehearsals and All-County Honor Band students will begin their rehearsals on Thursday at Golden Gate High School.
 
Please remember that the due date for all student trip payments is tomorrow, Tuesday, January 18th. This is a hard deadline. Due to the delays and complications of this school year, Mrs. Robinson and the Band Boosters have very little time to secure the hotel, charter buses, and park tickets. Please pay close attention to all the band trip due dates. The trip information packet and forms were sent via email.

After School Concert Band Rehearsals (Start week of Tues. 1/18): All after school concert band rehearsals start this week.  Please refer to the band calendar for all dates and times. Wind Symphony is the 2nd period band, Wind Ensemble is the 3rd period band, and Symphonic Winds is the 4th period band.  All percussion students received their band placements prior to Winterfest.
 
All-County Honor Band Rehearsal (Thurs. 1/20): Students in the All-County Honor Band have rehearsal this Thursday from 5:00-7:00pm at Golden Gate High School. All students are being reminded to practice and listen to recordings of their pieces prior to Thursday night’s rehearsal.
 
Universal Studios Band Trip Reminders:
  • Trip payments, commitment forms, and roommate requests are due by 1/18
  • Parents who worked twice in the concession stand can request to transfer $50 credit from their student’s band fee towards their student’s trip cost.
  • Students who participated in last year’s Cheesecake fundraiser can apply those profits to this year’s trip. Mrs. Robinson gave those students a sheet showing how much they raised.
  • Students who participated in this year’s Cookie Dough fundraiser can apply those profits to this year’s trip. You can email Mrs. Robinson to find out how much was raised, otherwise students will receive this information in class next week.
  • Our Band Trip Meeting will be in the auditorium on Mon. 1/24 at 6:30pm. This is a very important meeting, and all students should attend with at least one parent.
