Last night, the Marching Pride competed at the Riverview Tampa Bay Fall Music Games Competition. Our students had another great performance. The Marching Pride placed 1st in Class 5A and won Grand Champion! They won Best Music, Visual, General Effect, Percussion, and Auxiliary in Class 5A and Best Overall Music and Visual. Our Percussion and Auxiliary Team both placed 3rd Overall. Our students are making a lot of progress and we’re very proud. Congratulations Marching Pride!
We want to thank all of our band staff and parent volunteers who came out to support the Marching Pride at Saturday’s competition. We were so thankful to have so many parents help out with truck crew and chaperoning. We’d like to especially thank Anthony Rowtie, Eileen Fuentes, Miguel Font, Kristian Newton, Dana Rowtie, Bill Strom, Sandra Llorca, and Erika Guerra for their leadership with our Band Boosters and parent volunteers. *PLEASE READ* State Marching Band Championships (Sat. 11/19): Last week, students were given a contract to state whether they plan on attending State Marching Band Championships. This contract included rehearsal dates after 11/5. This is the last call for all State Marching Band Agreement Forms. Mrs. Robinson must turn in the total number of performing students AND the total number of senior students. FMBC will recognize all seniors at State Championships, and they will be presented with a senior pin at the Semi-Finals Award Ceremony. Please turn in your agreement forms by tomorrow, Monday, October 24th. The form was sent via email. Mrs. Robinson is accepting the forms electronically at [email protected]. District 22 Marching MPA (Sat. 10/29): Call time is 10:00am. We will rehearse from 10:00am-2:00pm before leaving for MPA. Band students will wear their full marching band uniform and auxiliary will wear their show uniform. Underneath their uniform, all band students will wear this year’s black Mad World shirt, this year’s black marching band shorts, tall black crew socks, and marching band shoes. Auxiliary students will wear their show uniform, tights, tan shoes, earrings, and full hair and makeup. Please remember to eat breakfast before 10:00am call and bring your jug of water! Students will break for lunch at 12:00pm and dinner will be at Barron Collier High School Concessions. Students will need to bring money to buy dinner at concessions. More details will be sent out in a separate email. Cookie Dough Fundraiser (Due Fri. 10/28): Orders are due by this Friday, 10/28. Students who are going to Texas will have the opportunity to earn fundraise towards their trip. This will also be a general fundraiser for our program, so we’re asking all students to participate. Students who are not going to Texas will help raise money for marching band season expenses. MBI Program Ads (Due by Sun. 10/30): The Band Boosters are selling program ads for our upcoming Marching Band Invitational (MBI). PRHS has hosted this competition for the past 18 years. Local bands from South/Southwest Florida will come to compete with their drumlines and marching bands. Placing an ad can help promote your local business. Parents also like to purchase these ads to with their student good luck and congratulations. The order form was sent via email. All ads must be submitted by Sunday, October 30th. Marching Pride Jackets (Due by Mon. 10/31): Marching Pride Jackets are now on sale. This is a required purchase for all new auxiliary members and an optional purchase for all other students and parents. All orders and payments are due by Monday, October 31st. The order form was sent via email. Jazz/Dance/Guard Green Wind Breakers (Due by Tues. 11/1): Green Wind Breakers are now on sale. These jackets are only available to students in Jazz Band, Dance, or Guard. This is an optional purchase for these students. All orders and payments are due online by Tuesday, November 1st. The order form was sent via email. Trunk or Treat (Tues. 11/1): Our Annual Trunk or Treat is scheduled for Tuesday, November 1st. All students who drive to rehearsal are reminded to park in the Student Parking Lot. The event will take place in the Faculty Parking Lot from 8:00-8:45pm. We’re looking for parents to participate by decorating their cars and passing out treats to the students. Please avoid passing out candy with peanuts. We know that this might be a small inconvenience, but it’s very important for the safety of our students. Thank you for your understanding and compliance. Senior Night (Fri. 11/4): Our Marching Pride Seniors will be recognized during halftime at the game vs. Golden Gate on Friday, November 4th. Seniors, please start collecting information on who plans to walk you down the field. This information will be due to Mrs. Robinson next week through a Google Form. Seniors will be given a tiara or Marching Pride hat as a gift from our Band Boosters. Students who ordered both, will have to pay $25 for the hat. This payment will be collected when seniors go to receive their hats and/or tiaras at 5:00pm call. Texas Band Trip Registration Closing on Fri. 10/28: Student registration for our Band Trip to Texas will close on Friday, October 28th. We need a final student head count so that we can open registration for our parent chaperones and truck crew. If you are marked pending, please complete your payment information by Friday, October 28th. Last Friday, we had our 8th Grade Band Night/Dancing Cubs! We had a blast, and we hope that our guests did too. We look forward to having the 8th graders as future members of the Marching Pride! State Marching Band Championships (Sat. 11/19): Hopefully, everyone saw the email that was sent out last week. The Marching Pride has the opportunity to compete at State Championships on Saturday, November 19th. On Tuesday, students will be given a contract to state whether or not they plan on attending. This contract will include rehearsal dates after 11/5. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students. Students who choose to not travel to State will be written out of the show after MPA (10/29). This is so that the competing students have time to fill in their holes. These students will also be given make-up assignments, which will be posted on Canvas. More information will be provided in class on Tuesday. Away Game at Fort Myers HS (Fri. 10/21): This week’s game is an away game at Fort Myers High School! Healthy Snack will be at 3:30pm. Call time for students is 4:00pm. This Friday, all band students will wear this year’s green Marching Pride shirt, dark colored athletic shorts, tall black crew socks, and marching band shoes. If the Fort Myers marching band is not wearing uniforms or if rain is predicted, the band will just wear their band shirts and shorts. Auxiliary students will wear their pregame top, pregame leggings, tights, black auxiliary shoes, earrings, and full hair and makeup. Auxiliary students will not wear their show uniforms this week. All students are expected to travel together to and from Fort Myers HS via school bus. The game starts at 7:30pm and tickets are available on gofan.co. Please be prepared to pick-up your student around 10:30-11:00pm. Students will text and call their rides when they leave FMHS and then again when we are close to approaching PRHS. Third Quarter Break at Fort Myers HS: All students will eat during their 3rdquarter break, but that will not be until after 8:00pm. Students will have to bring money to purchase their meals at FMHS. These meals are not included in the band fee. We have not received a list of what they offer at concessions. We are confirming that they will be able to provide concessions for our students. Home Game vs. Immokalee HS/8th Grade Band Night (Fri. 10/14): Call time for students is 5:00pm. The band room will be closed after school on Friday from 2:30-4:30pm. This Friday, band students will wear their full marching band uniform and auxiliary will wear their pregame uniform. Underneath their uniform, all band students will wear this year’s green Marching Pride shirt, athletic shorts (any color), tall black crew socks, and marching band shoes. Auxiliary students will wear their pregame top, pregame leggings, tights, black auxiliary shoes, earrings, and full hair and makeup. Auxiliary students will change into their show uniform during 3rd quarter. We will perform It’s a Mad World post game. Halftime’s performance will be a special performance featuring our 8th grade band students from Cypress Palm Middle School, Corkscrew Middle School, and Oak Ridge Middle School! The game starts at 7:00pm and tickets are available on gofan.co. Please be prepared to pick-up your student around 10:00pm. Students will text and call their rides when they return to the band room at the end of the game. Stadium Clean-up (Fri. 10/14): As part of our agreement in selling concessions, it our responsibility to help clean up the stadium after every home game. Clean-up duty is assigned by section, and it alternates for every game. This Friday, clean-up duty is assigned to the Woodwind section. (Brass, Percussion, and Auxiliary will have the game after that.) Students will be provided with gloves when they return to the stadium. This process does not take long when all assigned students help out. PLEASE READ Game Day Student Drop-Off: For Friday, please drop-off your student in either in the back of the school by the portables or in the bus loop. Student pick-up will be in the main loop by the flagpole. Thank you for your cooperation.
