There are a lot of events happening this week and throughout the month. Our band parent volunteers often refer to October as “BANDTOBER” because of all of the events. Please read our newsletters carefully and check the band calendar regularly for all upcoming events.

Congratulations to our Marchers of the Week: Nayelis Gomez (woodwind), Jacob Waggoner (brass), James Titus (percussion), Taylor Williams (auxiliary), and Anthony Kirtman (officer). Congratulations to our Section of the Week, the Clarinet Section led by Section Leaders Zachary Seymour and Cailin Dominguez!

We’d like to thank all of our parent volunteers who helped with chaperoning and truck crew for last Friday night’s game. We’d also like to thank all of our student and parent volunteers who helped with our Publix Fundraiser this past weekend. If you are interested in helping out for this week’s Homecoming game, please email Ms. Fuentes at prhschap@gmail.com.

Disney Band Trip Registration is now closed. Hopefully, all students were able to turn in their commitment forms and payments on time. The last payment for the trip is due on Monday, October 28th. Parents who are interested in chaperoning should contact Ms. Fuentes. We will choose parent chaperones based on volunteer history.

This week is Spirit Week at Palmetto Ridge! All students are encouraged to show their school spirit by dressing up for the different theme days throughout the week. For every day students dress-up, they can sign up for the Homecoming Band Give-Away, which will be held on Friday before the game. Last week we gave away two Homecoming tickets! Congratulations to our Homecoming Ticket winners Sofia Rojas and Ray Patterson!

We have our regular rehearsals on Tuesday and Thursday this week. Jazz Band 1 will be performing at the Coronation Pep Rally on Tuesday, WINK News will feature select students from Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Winds, and Percussion playing the National Anthem on Wednesday, and the Marching Pride will perform during the Lunch Pep Rally on Friday. This Friday we have our Homecoming Football Game against Gulf Coast High School, call is 5:00pm.

Dancing Cubs Registration (Due 10/1): We’re looking for all students in grades PreK-eighth grade who’d like to dance with the PRHS Auxiliary Team and the Marching Pride. More information can be found on the Band Website. Registration is due by October 1st to robina2@collierschools.com. The Dancing Cubs will perform with the Marching Pride on 8th Grade Band Night, Friday, October 11th.

Coronation Pep Rally (Tues. 10/1): The Marching Pride will not perform at this Pep Rally. All students will sit with their graduating class. Jazz Band 1 will be performing. All Jazz Band 1 students must wear either their Duo Day costumes or a Marching Pride t-shirt and report to the band room at the beginning of 6th period.

Auxiliary Pep Rally Auditions (Tues. 10/1): The auxiliary team will hold auditions for the 10/25 Pep Rally performance. Auditions will start at 4:30pm in the band room. Rehearsals will resume on Thursday from 4:30-5:30pm.

Marching Band After School Rehearsals (Tuesday and Thursday): This week’s rehearsals will both be in the stadium this week. This Thursday’s rehearsal will be in full uniform for auxiliary and band! Band students will wear a black shirt with their uniform and athletic shorts (any color). Auxiliary will wear their half-time uniform, tights, and tan shoes. Parents are reminded that all rehearsals are closed to spectators. The only parents we allow in the stadium are the parent volunteers who help with the props or those helping to prepare concessions. All parents are encouraged to attend this Friday night’s game to see the performance. The band will be performing post game with all of the props on the field for the very first time. Please keep in mind that we have two Monday evening rehearsals coming up: Monday, October 7th and Monday, October 14th. Please check the PRHS Band Calendar.

WINK News Band Feature (Wed. 10/2): WINK news is coming to feature the band performing the National Anthem! Select students from Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Winds, and Percussion will be featured. Students were selected based on their current academic standing in classes and current attendance record. All participating students are reminded to wear this year’s white band t-shirt for the performance. All students may change into their Spirit Day attire after the performance. Please report to the band room at the beginning of 3rd period. The recording will take place during 4th period. It’s not clear yet when the feature will air. When that information is given, we will post it on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

Band Booster Meeting (Wed. 10/2): Our Band Boosters are holding their monthly meeting at 7:00pm in the band room. All parents are encouraged to attend.

Fall Orchestra & Choir Concert (Wed. 10/2): The PRHS Orchestras and Choir will have their first concert of the year at 6:30pm in the auditorium. All students are encouraged to attend to support their fellow musicians and Mr. Bigler. Parents are encouraged to attend after the Band Booster Meeting. Admission is free.

PRHS Financial Aid Meeting (Thurs. 10/3): PRHS is holding the annual Financial Aid Night from 5:00-7:30pm in the Media Center and Auditorium. This meeting is for senior parents and students. While Mrs. Robinson realizes the importance of this meeting, she still has to hold all students to the same standards—students who miss majority of Thursday night’s rehearsal and the final run through, will not be allowed to perform during Friday night’s post game performance. This is a safety precaution. The band is scheduled to learn new drill this week. We cannot have students performing on the field if they do not know where they’re going. This is for their safety and for the safety of the students who are performing around them.

Lunch Pep Rally Performance (Fri. 10/4): The Marching Pride will perform during lunch. All students must be in PRHS Spirit Attire. Please report to the band room at 11:50am to get your instruments/equipment and line up into Lance outside the band room in the hallway with the Marching Pride Mural.

Homecoming Game vs. Gulf Coast HS (Fri. 10/4): The band room will be closed from 2:30-4:00pm on Friday. The call time for all students is 5:00pm. We will be in full uniform this week. All band students will wear this year’s white band t-shirt, this year’s green marching band shorts, tall solid black socks, and marching band shoes. All auxiliary students will wear this year’s pregame uniform, tights, this year’s black outdoor auxiliary shoes, earrings, full make-up and hair. During 3rd quarter, all auxiliary students will change into their show uniform and tan auxiliary shoes. The Marching Pride will perform post game as halftime will be devoted to Homecoming Court Festivities.
