Thank you to everyone who came out to support our concert and jazz bands at the Mid-Year Band Concert! It was such a pleasure to host the Corkscrew and Cypress Palm Middle School Bands and showcase our band students and all that they have been working towards since January. Next week our concert bands have their District MPA at Gulf Coast High School. All parents are encouraged to attend, there is no admission charge.
 
Hopefully, everyone is recovering and getting some much-needed rest from our trip to Universal Studios. The Marching Pride had a hot—but great performance playing Handclap and the Spider-Man Theme. Thank you so much to all our parent volunteers who worked as chaperones and truck crew. We hope that everyone had a great time and look forward to our next band trip, which we hope to do out of state! (Fingers crossed!)
 
Here’s what you need to know for this week’s events.

Poppin’ Popcorn Fundraiser (Due Mon. 3/14): The Band Boosters are starting their Poppin’ Popcorn Fundraiser on Monday, February 28th. The fundraiser will end on Monday, March 14th. We’re asking all students in auxiliary, percussion, and jazz band to sell at least two items. All other students are being asked to sell at least one item. Please do your best to participate in this fundraiser. We plan to use the money raised towards the Band Banquet in May. More information will be given in class.
 
School Instrument Inventory (This week and next): All band students who are using a school owned instrument must have those instruments in the band room/band locker this week and next, or at least until Mrs. Robinson checks the instrument. Mrs. Robinson has to turn in her inventory report to the district and will need to account for all instruments. Thank you for your cooperation.   
 
District Concert Band MPA (Thurs. 3/3 and Fri. 3/4): District Concert Band MPA is at Gulf Coast High School and there is no admission charge. Parents are encouraged to attend to watch the performance.

Varsity Guard FFCC Competition at Braden River (Sat. 3/12): Our Varsity Guard is competing in their second and final FFCC competition at Braden River High School. Call time is 12:00pm and the estimated return to PRHS is 8:30pm.
 
Bravo Dance Competition at Lehigh Acres (Sun. 3/13): Our Dance Team is competing at the Bravo Dance Competition at Lehigh Acres High School. All students need to turn in their alternate travel forms by Wednesday, March 9th at the latest. 
 
Instrument Repair & Equipment: Our trusted local vendors are Cadence Music (239) 275-6262 and Christman Music (239) 254-8863. If needed, please be sure to get your instrument fixed and have all your needed supplies. Both Christman Music and Cadence Music are now visiting on Wednesdays.

Congratulations to our Varsity Guard on winning Class AA at the FFCC Guard Competition at Hialeah Gardens last Saturday. We are so proud of our students for their hard work! Their next competition is at Braden River on March 12th. Thank you to all of our parent volunteers who helped with chaperoning and truck crew!
 
Wind Ensemble had their Pre-MPA last Thursday and they had a very successful performance. We hope to see you all at our Mid-Year Band Concert this Wednesday night starting at 6:00pm in the auditorium. There is no admission charge. The concert will feature our concert bands who are all preparing for their upcoming District MPA, our two jazz bands, and the CMS and CPMS middle school concert bands.
 
At the end of our concert, we’re having a brief trip meeting. This meeting will give our parents and students the opportunity to meet the chaperones for our upcoming band trip.

School Instrument Rental Fees (Past Due): All band students who are using a school owned instrument must turn in their $100 rental fee. Students who paid the rental fee during marching band season, do not have to pay another fee. 
 
Mid-Year Band Concert (Wed. 3/23): This year’s Mid-Year Band Concert will feature both jazz bands, all three concert bands, the Corkscrew Middle School Concert Band, and the Cypress Palm Middle School Concert Band! Call time for students will be 5:00pm. All students will wear their concert attire. The concert will begin at 6:00pm and there is no admission charge. This is the brief outline of the concert: (times in italics are approximate)

6:15pm – Wind Symphony
6:30pm – Jazz Band 1
6:45pm – CMS Concert Band
7:05pm – Jazz Band 1
7:15pm – CPMS Sabre Cat Band

PRHS Incoming Freshmen Meeting (Thurs. 2/24): PRHS is hosting their Incoming Freshmen Parent Meeting on Thursday night from 6:30-8:00pm. This meeting is for the parents of current 8th graders who plan on attending Palmetto Ridge High School.
 
Universal Studios Band Trip Reminders: (4 days away!)
  • All required forms are past due. Students will not be allowed on the trip without their required forms.
  • If your student will require prescription medication while on the trip, you will have to turn in all prescription and a Medication Authorization formed (signed by your student’s physician) to the school nurse ASAP, this is also past due.
  • Luggage and bags are due on Wed. 2/23.
  • Brief Band Trip Meeting, Wed. 2/23 after the Mid-Year Band Concert
  • Our rehearsal will be on Thur. 2/24.

This past Friday, both jazz bands performed at their District Jazz MPA, which was hosted at Palmetto Ridge High School. Jazz Band 2 earned an Excellent rating and Jazz Band 1 earned a Superior rating. Congratulations to the students in both bands, we’re so proud of all of you!
 
Thank you to all of our parent and student volunteers who helped at District Jazz MPA. We couldn’t have ran the event without you!
 
Please don’t forget that all trip forms are due tomorrow, Monday, February 14th. It’s hard to believe that our trip is only 12 days away!
 
This week all band students will show their concert attire to Mrs. Robinson and Mr. Claro. Hopefully, everyone has their attire set.
 
Wind Ensemble will have their Pre-MPA this Thursday night at Gulf Coast. Call time is 3:30pm. More details are provided below.
 
On Saturday, our Varsity Guard is competing in their first competition of the season and Indoor Percussion is traveling with so that they can watch the competing Indoor groups. Call time is 12:30pm. More details are provided below.

Concert Attire (Due Tues. 2/15): All band students will wear the assigned concert attire for the Mid-Year Band Concert and District Concert MPA. Please contact Mrs. Robinson at [email protected] if you have any concerns. Students will either come to rehearsal this week wearing their attire or they will submit a picture of their attire on Canvas.
 
Pre-MPA for Wind Ensemble Students (Thurs. 2/17): Wind Ensemble will have their Pre-MPA at Gulf Coast High School on Thursday, February 17th. Call time will be 3:30pm. Wind Ensemble will perform at 6:00pm. The approximate return to PRHS is 7:30pm. Students will wear their concert attire. All students should eat prior to arriving at 3:30pm call.
 
FFCC Competition for Varsity Guard (Sat. 2/19): Varsity Guard will have their first competition of the season at Hialeah Gardens High School. Indoor Percussion will travel with so that they can watch the competing indoor percussion groups. Call time will be 12:30pm. The approximate return to PRHS is 9:00pm. All students will travel to and from Hialeah Gardens High School via school bus. All students should bring money to buy dinner and snacks at the concession stand. Indoor Percussion students will wear their percussion shirts. Varsity Guard will arrive in full hair and makeup wearing their indoor uniform and black jackets.
 
Mid-Year Band Concert (Wed. 3/23): This year’s Mid-Year Band Concert will feature both jazz bands, all three concert bands, the Corkscrew Middle School Concert Band, and the Cypress Palm Middle School Concert Band! Call time for students will be 5:00pm. All students will wear their concert attire. The concert will begin at 6:00pm and there is no admission charge. The jazz bands will start the concert off at 6:00pm, the CMS band will perform at 6:45pm, the CPMS band will perform at 7:15pm, and our concert bands will start around 7:45pm. At the end of the concert, we will hold a brief band trip meeting for all participating students and parents. At this brief meeting we will go over the itinerary and parents will have the opportunity to meet with their student’s chaperone for the trip. We hope to see you there!
