We are rehearsing on Tuesday and Thursday this week. Krispy Kreme orders are scheduled to be delivered to the school on Thursday. Friday is a Home Game vs. Gulf Coast High School! Congratulations to Carlos Cazorla Vergel, Jonathan Eysaman, Matt Ford, Santiago Nieto, Jonathan Ramirez-Santiago, and Marc Robinson! These students completed their All-State auditions last Saturday. Krispy Kreme Fundraiser (Thurs. 9/28): Thank you to everyone who participated in this fundraiser. Digital coupons are scheduled to be sent by Wednesday, September 27th. Donut boxes and coffee are scheduled to be delivered to the school on Thursday, September 28th. We will send an email to confirm pick-up times. Thursday Rehearsal Attire (Thurs. 9/28): For this Thursday, band students will wear a gray shirt with dark colored shorts. Auxiliary will wear their normal white on black. Dancing Cubs Fundraiser (Registration Ends Thurs. 9/28): We are inviting students in grades PreK-8 to come and dance with our Auxiliary Team during 8th Grade Band Night, on Friday, October 6th. The first practice will be on Thursday, September 28 from 5:00-6:00pm. The second practice will be on Thursday, October 5 from 5:00-6:00pm. Registration is open until Thursday, September 28th. Registration can be completed at https://forms.gle/HBSy2RjAb7bWAVfq7. Home Game vs. Gulf Coast HS (Fri. 9/29): This week’s game is at home game against Gulf Coast High School. Call time for students is 5:00pm. The band room will be closed from 2:30-4:30pm. Band students will wear full uniform with this year’s black WNW shirt, this year’s black marching band shorts, tall solid black crew socks, and marching band shoes. Auxiliary students will wear their pregame uniform, tights, black auxiliary shoes, earrings, and full show hair and makeup. Auxiliary will bring their show uniform in their duffel bags and change uniforms before the performance. The Marching Pride will most likely perform post-game due to the amount of time it takes to perform the amount of show we have prepared with all props on the field. The Gulf Coast marching band will perform during halftime. The game starts at 7:00pm and tickets are available on gofan.co. Please be prepared to pick-up your student around 10:30pm. Students will text and call their rides when they return to the band room at the end of the game. Game Day Student Drop-off and Pick-up: For Friday, please drop-off your student in either the back of the school by the portables or in the bus loop. Student pick-up will be in the main loop by the flagpole. Thank you for your cooperation. Game Day Student & Staff Parking: All Marching Pride students, staff, and parent volunteers will park in the back parking lot by the portables for Friday night’s game. You will be asked to move your vehicle if you park in front of the school or in the bus parking lot located behind the visitor’s stands. Thank you for your cooperation. Stadium Clean-up (Fri. 9/29): This Friday, clean-up duty is assigned to the Percussion and Auxiliary Section. (Woodwinds and Percussion will have the next home game. Brass and Auxiliary will have the last home game.) Students will be provided with gloves when they return to the stadium. Auxiliary Show Uniforms: All auxiliary students have been given their show uniforms. These uniforms must be hand washed in cold water with mild detergent and line dried. There are no extra uniforms and there is no way to replace uniforms that are lost or damaged. All students will be required to return the show uniforms at the end of the marching band season, as the cost is not covered by their band fee. Students who return the uniform in damaged condition will be charged $75. Disney Band Trip Meeting (Mon. 10/2): Our first band trip meeting will be on Monday, October 2nd in the auditorium. Check-in will start at 6:00pm and the meeting will start promptly at 6:30pm. The Marching Pride is traveling to Disney World on February 2 & 3. The date was changed due to charter bus availability. This trip is completely optional. If you’re interested in getting more information, please plan on attending the meeting. Meeting handouts will be available in class on October 3rd. Naples Southwest Florida Games Competition (Sat. 10/7): Our first competition of the year is on Saturday, October 7th at Naples High School. Details were sent in a separate email last week and are attached to this email. State Marching Band Championships (Sat. 11/11): Mrs. Robinson hopes to send the Marching Pride to the FMBC State Marching Band Championships this year. State will be in the Tampa Bay area on Saturday, November 11th. If the Marching Pride competes at State, we will have to travel on charter buses. Charter buses are extremely expensive with limited availability. CCPS College & Career Night will be on Monday, September 18th at Golden Gate High School from 5:30-7:30pm. Since we know that many parents and students are going to want to attend this important event, we’re going to reschedule the Disney Band Trip Meeting to Monday, October 2nd. The Band Boosters are still holding their September meeting on Monday, September 18 at 7:00pm in the band room. Krispy Kreme Fundraiser orders and payments are due this Monday. We are rehearsing on Tuesday and Thursday this week; Thursday’s rehearsal will be in the back practice field. Friday is our first away game of the season! We’re really looking forward to traveling with the team to Lely High School. On Saturday, select students will audition for All-State at Corkscrew Middle School. Auxiliary students will wear their pregame uniform, tights, black auxiliary shoes, earrings, and full hair and makeup. All students are expected to travel together to and from Lely HS via school bus. The game starts at 7:00pm and tickets are available on gofan.co. Please be prepared to pick-up your student around 10:30pm. Students will be instructed to text and call their rides when they leave LHS and then again when we are close to approaching PRHS. Third Quarter Break at Lely HS (Fri. 9/22): All students will have the opportunity to visit the LHS concession stand during their 3rd quarter break. Students will have to bring money to purchase their meals at LHS. We advise that students have at least $10-15 in cash. We have not received a menu of what they offer at concessions. We strongly advise that students eat prior to leaving for LHS. In the past, visiting concession stands have not been able to accommodate all our students. PLEASE READ Game Day Student Drop-off and Pick-up: For Friday, please drop-off and pick-up your student in the main loop by the flagpole. All students who drive will park in the Student Parking Lot. Please do not go into the Faculty Parking Lot. Our trailers load and unload in the Faculty Parking Lot. Thank you for your cooperation. Alternate Travel Requests (Due by Wed. 9/20): If a parent needs to pick up their student from a band event, they must turn in Alternate Travel Request Form. Alternate Travel Requests are due to Mrs. Robinson THREE DAYS prior to departure and will require administrator approval. This form can be found on the band website: www.prhsbands.org/2023-2024-info.html. As stated in the Band Handbook, Mrs. Robinson will only release students to their parents and legal guardians. Every day has a theme, and we hope that all students will participate and show their school spirit. Students will receive extra credit in the Daily Participation category for every day they dress up. If you don’t have something to wear for the theme, wear a Palmetto Ridge shirt!
On Monday, our Jazz Combo will be performing at the school board meeting at 4:30pm. Participating students will be meeting Mr. Claro at the Administration Center by 3:45pm. Parents can attend the meeting to watch the performance or you can also watch the performance on www.collierschools.com. Our Orchestra and Choir is holding a Spirit Night at the Culver’s on Immokalee on Monday from 5:00-8:00pm. If you don’t have dinner plans, please consider stopping by Culver’s between 5:00-8:00pm to support our orchestra and choir! We are only rehearsing on Tuesday this week and our Homecoming Game is on Thursday night. The Marching Pride is wearing full uniform this Thursday, so Tuesday night’s rehearsal will be a dress rehearsal. Band students will be wearing their bibbers and hats for part of the rehearsal so they can get used to the uniform before Thursday. More details are provided below. There’s a Pep Rally on Thursday, but the Marching Pride will not perform. All students will sit with their graduating class in the gym. Jazz Band 1 will be performing at the Pep Rally. Students need the following items for every rehearsal: a 64 oz. water jug filled with water, instrument/auxiliary equipment, lanyard & coordinate sheets, 1-inch binder with sheet protectors, pencils, proper attire and shoes with socks, and bug spray is recommended. Homecoming Game vs. Hardee HS (Thurs. 9/14): This week, the Marching Pride will perform “A Whole New World” post-game since halftime will be dedicated to Homecoming festivities. Call time for students is 4:30pm. The band room will be closed from 2:15-4:00pm. Band students will be wearing their full band uniform this week! Tri-M Music Honors Society Applications and Contracts (Due Fri. 9/15): New member applications and returning member contracts for Tri-M are due by this Friday at 1:15pm. Both vendors drop off orders and pick-up instruments for repair at PRHS—but parents must call the vendor to make these types of arrangements. Instruments will not be picked up unless orders for repair are made with the vendor ahead of time.
