Last week we had our 2022-2023 Band Placement Auditions for all non-graduating woodwinds and brass. We are so proud of all our students as they’re all making great progress. We will post the results after State MPA. This will allow us to complete the optional auditions for our incoming freshmen, which is this week by appointment. We are holding our 2022-2023 Marching Pride Percussion Placement auditions this week Tuesday through Thursday from 5:00-7:00pm in the band room. Those results will be posted at the end of the week. Our first Dancing Cubs rehearsal is Tuesday night in the auditorium. All auxiliary students are expected to attend. On Friday, Tri-M is having their final meeting of the year in the band room at 2:15pm. All students are to turn in their required service hour records at this meeting. Graduation Band Agreement Form (Past Due): CCPS has move the 2022 PRHS Graduation Ceremony to Saturday, May 28th. All non-graduating band students are required to perform at the Graduation Ceremony. All woodwind and brass students were given a Graduation Band Agreement Form in class last week. This form was due on Thursday, March 31st. Please turn in your forms this week if you have not already done so. Percussion students will be selected based on age and ability level. Mrs. Robinson will discuss requirements for percussion students in class this week. The form has been attached to this email. 2022-2023 Marching Pride Information Meeting: If you missed our Information Meeting last week, email Mrs. Robinson for the 2022-2023 commitment forms and membership packets. Rhythm of the Pride Recital (Tues. 4/26): Our Auxiliary and Percussion students are having their annual end of the year recital next week Tuesday at 6:30pm. This recital will also feature our Dancing Cubs. Admission is $5. We will pre-sell the tickets next week Monday before and after school. Otherwise, tickets will be available at the door. All participating students will have their dress rehearsal on Monday, 4/25 from 2:30-6:00pm. State Concert Band MPA (Thurs. 4/28): Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Winds will have their State Concert Band MPA at Vero Beach High School on Thursday, April 28th. Call time is 9:00am. Students should arrive wearing their concert attire. We are leaving PRHS between 10:00-11:00am. We will be waiting for a few students to complete their AICE English exam before we leave. All students need to bring a bagged lunch to eat on the ride to Vero Beach. We will be stopping for dinner in Port St. Lucie. The dinner options are Moe’s, Five Guys, Panera, Tropical Smoothie, and Jimmy John’s. We will return to PRHS between 9:30-10:00pm. Marching Pride Relay for Life Performance (Sat. 4/30): The Marching Pride was invited to play at the Relay for Life event at Mercato on Saturday, April 30th. Call time is 5:00pm at Mercato. Students will be done by 7:00pm. The sign-up sheet is in the band room. Students will have to provide their own transportation. Students can earn volunteer hours for this event. Daileen Alfonso Scholarship Application (Due Thurs. 5/5): The online application for the Daileen Alfonso Scholarship is now open on the band website. This scholarship is annually awarded to one graduating senior from the Marching Pride. Please visit www.prhsbands.org and click on the “Students” tab for more information. All students signed up for an audition time. The schedule is posted in the band room. All non-graduating woodwind and brass students are required to complete this audition. This audition will count as a playing test grade, it will determine concert band placements for next year, marching band part assignments for next year, and the scores will also be used for the selection of 2022-2023 band officers. Students who miss their audition will be required to make-up the assignment, but late auditions may affect placements. Dancing Cubs Fundraiser: Our Auxiliary Team is holding their Annual Dancing Cubs Fundraiser. Every year we invite students to come and perform with our Auxiliary Team. This year participants will be performing at The Rhythm of the Pride Recital on Tuesday, April 26th. Participating students will learn a routine at the assigned rehearsals and perform with the team at the recital. Please see the attached flyer for more information. Performers typically range from grades K-8. Thank you to all of our parent and student volunteers who worked to run the event. Lyrical Dance, Contemporary Dance, JV Guard, and Varsity Guard all earned Superior ratings! Thais Chan, Taylor Williams, Yasmine Corral, Lyzbeth Bautista, Alys Torres, Gaby Portu, Jillian Paquette, Melanie Moreno, Samantha Mugavero, Vivienne Briley, Hannah Orsini, Anai Cortinas, Isabella Viquez, Mailuby Figueredo, Tatiana Hernandez, Alexandra Sepesi, Isabella Martinez, and Daniela Cadavid all earned Excellent ratings on their solos. Damara Georges, Samantha Mugavero, Haylie Nguyen, Gianna Klenk, Natalie Silguero, Yulizay Figueredo, Serenity Watson, Leslie Torres, Thaliana Chavez-Vidal, Monika Ataman, Mia Dixon, and Daniela Rives all earned Superior ratings on their solos. The Band Boosters will be at the Winn Dixie again this Saturday and Sunday. Please consider helping out by working a two-hour shift. The sign up sheet for students is in the band room. Last week we were invited to play at the Sabal Palm Elementary FSA Pep Rally and we also visited the 8th grade band, orchestra, and choir students at Cypress Palm Middle School. This week we will be performing at Palmetto Elementary on Monday, and we will visit the 8th grade band students at Corkscrew on Tuesday. Please don’t forget that we have a Chipotle Spirit Night on Tuesday, April 5th from 4:00-8:00pm. In order for the fundraiser to work, you have to show the attached flyer when you go to pay. Please help spread the word. Chipotle will donate 33% of sales, but only if you mention the attached flyer. There will be no more practices for our Indoor Percussion Ensemble. We sincerely apologize to the students, parents, and staff who were fulfilling their commitment to the group. We would like to thank Mr. Dang, Mr. Martinez, Ms. Blocker, and Mr. Claro for all their hard work, patience, and time in trying to lead the group. Winn Dixie Fundraiser (Sat. 4/9, Sun. 4/10): Our Band Boosters are holding a fundraiser at the Mission Hills Winn Dixie this weekend. We are looking for student and parent volunteers work two hour shifts this Saturday and Sunday anywhere from 10:00am-6:00pm. The student volunteer sheet is posted in the band room. The first weekend was a huge success, we hope to get some new volunteers for this weekend. These funds will help to cover expenses for our State Competitions and Band Awards Banquet.
