This week is Homecoming Week at The Ridge! Every day has a theme, and we hope that all students will participate and show their school spirit. Students will receive extra credit in the Daily Participation category for every day they dress up. If you don’t have something to wear for the theme, wear a Palmetto Ridge shirt!
On Monday, our Jazz Combo will be performing at the school board meeting at 4:30pm. Participating students will be meeting Mr. Claro at the Administration Center by 3:45pm. Parents can attend the meeting to watch the performance or you can also watch the performance on www.collierschools.com. Our Orchestra and Choir is holding a Spirit Night at the Culver’s on Immokalee on Monday from 5:00-8:00pm. If you don’t have dinner plans, please consider stopping by Culver’s between 5:00-8:00pm to support our orchestra and choir! We are only rehearsing on Tuesday this week and our Homecoming Game is on Thursday night. The Marching Pride is wearing full uniform this Thursday, so Tuesday night’s rehearsal will be a dress rehearsal. Band students will be wearing their bibbers and hats for part of the rehearsal so they can get used to the uniform before Thursday. More details are provided below. There’s a Pep Rally on Thursday, but the Marching Pride will not perform. All students will sit with their graduating class in the gym. Jazz Band 1 will be performing at the Pep Rally. These students will be SRA’ed out of 7th period and are to wear this year’s WNW black band shirt with neutral colored bottoms. Marching Pride Swag Orders are supposed to be delivered sometime this week. Mrs. Robinson will send an email when the orders have arrived. CCPS announced that College & Career Night will be on Monday, September 18th at Golden Gate High School from 5:30-7:30pm. Since we know that many parents and students are going to want to attend this important event, we’re going to reschedule the Disney Band Trip Meeting to Monday, October 2nd. The Band Boosters are still holding their September meeting on Monday, September 18th. Here are last week’s Marchers and Section of Week: Honorable Mentions: Dalila Gaspar, Leah Ruiz, Angelica Serra (woodwinds), Caleb Calabrese, Bianka Munoz, Jeremy Walsh (brass), Lannah Duskin, Nathaniel Rojas (percussion), Taylor Dixon, Mica Gromis, Emily Phillips (auxiliary), and Andrew Borbor, Ben Llocra, Corey Newell, Eden Dalusma, and Liam Rezende (officer). This Week’s Schedule: Monday (9/11) – USA Day
Thursday (9/14) – Neon Day
Tuesday Dress Rehearsal Attire (Tues. 9/12): For this Tuesday, band students will wear a gray shirt (any shirt that is gray) with bibbers and marching band hats. Auxiliary will wear their pregame tops with black bottoms, and full hair. Students need the following items for every rehearsal: a 64 oz. water jug filled with water, instrument/auxiliary equipment, lanyard & coordinate sheets, 1-inch binder with sheet protectors, pencils, proper attire and shoes with socks, and bug spray is recommended. Homecoming Game vs. Hardee HS (Thurs. 9/14): This week, the Marching Pride will perform “A Whole New World” post-game since halftime will be dedicated to Homecoming festivities. Call time for students is 4:30pm. The band room will be closed from 2:15-4:00pm. Band students will be wearing their full band uniform this week! Underneath their uniform, band students will wear this year’s black WNW shirt, this year’s black marching band shorts, tall solid black crew socks, and marching band shoes. Auxiliary students will wear their pregame uniforms this week: this year’s pregame top, pregame leggings, tights, black auxiliary shoes, earrings, and full hair and makeup. The game starts at 7:00pm and tickets are available on gofan.co. If you are not attending the game, please be prepared to pick-up your student around 10:00pm. Students will text and call their rides when they return to the band room at the end of the game. Game Day Student Drop-off and Pick-up: For Thursday, please drop-off your student in either the back of the school by the portables or in the bus loop. Student pick-up will be in the main loop by the flagpole. Thank you for your cooperation. Game Day Student & Staff Parking: All Marching Pride students, staff, and parent volunteers will park in the back parking lot by the portables for Thursday night’s game. The front parking lots are reserved for paying spectators. You will be asked to move your vehicle if you park in front of the school or in the bus parking lot located behind the visitor’s stands. Thank you for your cooperation. Stadium Clean-up (Thurs. 9/14): Clean-up duty is assigned by section, and it alternates for every game. This Thursday, clean-up duty is assigned to the Brass Section since they did not clean the stands at the last game. (Percussion and Auxiliary will have the next home game. Woodwinds will have the game after that.) Students will be provided with gloves when they return to the stadium. This process does not take long when all assigned students help out. Tri-M Music Honors Society Applications and Contracts (Due Fri. 9/15): New member applications and returning member contracts for Tri-M are due by this Friday at 1:15pm. Healthy Snack Orders (PAST DUE): Next week is our first away football game. Students who ordered healthy snack will receive this meal in the band room prior to call time. If you would like to order healthy snack for your student, please send your $40 payment and order to Mrs. Robinson by this Friday, September 15th. The price for all healthy snack orders will go up to $50 after Friday, September 15th. Instrument Repair & Equipment: Our trusted local vendors are Cadence Music and Christman Music. Both vendors drop off orders and pick-up instruments for repair at PRHS—but parents must call the vendor to make these types of arrangements. Instruments will not be picked up unless orders for repair are made with the vendor ahead of time. Contact information for Cadence Music and Christman Music can be found on the band website by selecting “Students,” then “Band Instrument Resources.” Dancing Cubs Fundraiser (Registration Due by Thurs. 9/28): We are inviting students in grades PreK-8 to come and dance with our Auxiliary Team during 8th Grade Band Night, on Friday, October 6th. Registration can be completed at Dancing Cubs Registration. Please contact Head Auxiliary Instructor, Mrs. Annamarie Magdaleno at [email protected] if you have any questions. Marching Pride Duffel Bag Orders: The estimated production time is down to 2-4 weeks. Thank you for your patience. Krispy Kreme Fundraiser (Due Mon. 9/18): Order forms were distributed in class and sent via email. Orders are due by Monday, September 18.
