CCPS College & Career Night will be on Monday, September 18th at Golden Gate High School from 5:30-7:30pm. Since we know that many parents and students are going to want to attend this important event, we’re going to reschedule the Disney Band Trip Meeting to Monday, October 2nd. The Band Boosters are still holding their September meeting on Monday, September 18 at 7:00pm in the band room. Krispy Kreme Fundraiser orders and payments are due this Monday. We are rehearsing on Tuesday and Thursday this week; Thursday’s rehearsal will be in the back practice field. Friday is our first away game of the season! We’re really looking forward to traveling with the team to Lely High School. On Saturday, select students will audition for All-State at Corkscrew Middle School. Best of luck to Jonathan Eysaman, Matt Ford, Santiago Nieto, Jonathan Ramirez-Santiago, and Marc Robinson! We are still waiting for information on our Marching Pride Swag orders. Mrs. Robinson will notify everyone when a delivery date is received. Marchers of the Week: Adam Mosley (woodwind), Yori Newransky (brass), Sara Bejarano (percussion), Tamera Linton (auxiliary), Arianna Perez Bejarano (officer). The Section of the Week was the Mellophone Section led by brass captains Kleber Flores-Hernandez and Jack Waligora, and section leaders Samantha Burke and Justin Luque. Congratulations! Make-up Assignments: All missed rehearsals and performances will require a make-up assignment. Instructions on how to request a make-up assignment are posted in Canvas under “Modules.” Krispy Kreme Fundraiser (Due Mon. 9/18): Order forms and payments are due by this Monday! Donut boxes and coffee is scheduled to be delivered to the school on Thursday, September 28th. Thursday Rehearsal Attire (Thurs. 9/21): For this Thursday, band students will wear a black shirt with dark colored shorts. Auxiliary will wear their normal white on black. Thursday’s rehearsal will be in the back practice field. Healthy Snack Orders (Fri. 9/22): Students who ordered healthy snack will receive this meal in the band room at 3:30pm on Friday. If there are extra sandwiches, students can purchase them for $10. Away Game at Lely HS (Fri. 9/22): This week’s game is an away game at Lely High School. Call time for students is 4:00pm. The band room will remain open after school for all Marching Pride students. Band students will wear full uniform with this year’s gray Marching Pride shirt, this year’s black marching band shorts, tall solid black crew socks, and marching band shoes. Auxiliary students will wear their pregame uniform, tights, black auxiliary shoes, earrings, and full hair and makeup. All students are expected to travel together to and from Lely HS via school bus. The game starts at 7:00pm and tickets are available on gofan.co. Please be prepared to pick-up your student around 10:30pm. Students will be instructed to text and call their rides when they leave LHS and then again when we are close to approaching PRHS. Third Quarter Break at Lely HS (Fri. 9/22): All students will have the opportunity to visit the LHS concession stand during their 3rd quarter break. Students will have to bring money to purchase their meals at LHS. We advise that students have at least $10-15 in cash. We have not received a menu of what they offer at concessions. We strongly advise that students eat prior to leaving for LHS. In the past, visiting concession stands have not been able to accommodate all our students. PLEASE READ Game Day Student Drop-off and Pick-up: For Friday, please drop-off and pick-up your student in the main loop by the flagpole. All students who drive will park in the Student Parking Lot. Please do not go into the Faculty Parking Lot. Our trailers load and unload in the Faculty Parking Lot. Thank you for your cooperation. Alternate Travel Requests (Due by Wed. 9/20): If a parent needs to pick up their student from a band event, they must turn in Alternate Travel Request Form. Alternate Travel Requests are due to Mrs. Robinson THREE DAYS prior to departure and will require administrator approval. This form can be found on the band website: www.prhsbands.org/2023-2024-info.html. As stated in the Band Handbook, Mrs. Robinson will only release students to their parents and legal guardians. More information and instructions are provided on the form. Auxiliary Show Uniforms: We have started the process of issuing out show uniforms to all auxiliary students. These uniforms must be hand washed in cold water with mild detergent and line dried. There are no extra uniforms and there is no way to replace uniforms that are lost or damaged. All students will be required to return the show uniforms at the end of the marching band season, as the cost is not covered by their band fee. Students who return the uniform in damaged condition will be charged $75. Dancing Cubs Fundraiser (Registration Due by Thurs. 9/28): We are inviting students in grades PreK-8 to come and dance with our Auxiliary Team during 8th Grade Band Night, on Friday, October 6th. The first practice will be on Thursday, September 28 from 5:00-6:00pm. The second practice will be on Thursday, October 5 from 5:00-6:00pm. Registration is open until Thursday, September 28th. Instrument Repair & Equipment: Our trusted local vendors are Cadence Music and Christman Music. Contact information for Cadence Music and Christman Music can be found on the band website by selecting “Students,” then “Band Instrument Resources.” Christman Music visits PRHS on Tuesdays and Cadence Music visits PRHS on Wednesdays. PARENT HELP NEEDED: We are looking for parents to help with transporting props to our upcoming competitions.
