Weekly Update

Congratulations to the Marching Pride for winning 1st place in Class 5A and 2nd Overall at the Lehigh Lightning Tournament of Bands last Saturday! The Marching Pride also won the following captions in Class 5A: Best Music, Best General Effect, Best Visual, Best Percussion, and Best Auxiliary! We’re so proud of all our students for their continued hard work. We’re very excited to continue to develop the show as we prepare for our upcoming District Marching MPA.
 
A very special thank you to our band boosters and all of our parents who continue to volunteer and help out week after week for the Marching Pride. Please know that the success of the Marching Pride depends on your continued support. Thank you for dedicating your time and hard work to the students of the Marching Pride!

This weekend, the band will cheer on the PRHS Football team at Gulf Coast High School on Friday and then we’re hosting the 2018 Collier County Band Show on Saturday. Please read below for more details.

Krispy Kreme Donut Fundraiser (Due Mon. 10/24): Students who did not participate in the Coupon Book Fundraiser or Program Ad Fundraiser are asked to sell 4 boxes of donuts. All other students are asked to sell at least 1 box. All orders are due by Monday, October 24th. Order forms will be available in the band room. 
 
 
Tuesday Band Practice Attire: In the spirit of Socktober and Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we’re encouraging all students to dress in pink and colored/patterned/fun socks for all remaining Tuesday rehearsals in October! NHS is collecting sock donations for charity and the Band Boosters are selling Pink Out Shirts for our upcoming Pink Outgame (10/26). 
 
 
Thursday Band Practice Attire (Thurs. 10/18): This Thursday’s band attire is gray shirt and black bottoms. This rehearsal will be in the back practice field!
 
 
Away Game at Gulf Coast HS (Fri. 10/19): Healthy Snack will be distributed at 4:00pm. Call time is 4:30pm. Band students will arrive to call wearing this year’s green band t-shirt, athletic shorts, calf-length solid black socks and marching band shoes. Auxiliary students will arrive with hair and make-up done. We will discuss attire in auxiliary class on Tuesday. Students are reminded to bring a charged phone and money for third quarter break. Parents, please check our Twitter and Facebook for updates on our return to PRHS.  
 
 
Collier County Band Show (Sat. 10/20): Palmetto Ridge is hosting this year’s Collier County Band Show! Call time for students is 5:00pm. Band students will arrive to call wearing this year’s gray band t-shirt, marching band shorts, calf-length solid black socks and marching band shoes. Auxiliary students will arrive with hair and make-up done wearing their show uniform. Tickets will be sold at the gate for $7. The gate will open at 5:30pm and the event will start at 7:00pm. The Band Show always attracts a large crowd as all seven CCPS high school marching bands perform. It’s highly recommended that attendees arrive early to reserve their seating! A separate email will be sent out for volunteer information.   
 
 
Band Senior Night (Fri. 10/26): Band Senior Night will be at the Golden Gate Home game on Friday, October 26th. Seniors and their parents will be recognized before the game. Call time for senior parents will be around 6:00pm by the flag pole. 
 
 
District Marching MPA (Sat. 10/27): Please remember that our District Marching MPA performance is on Saturday, October 27th. The event will be held at Barron Collier High School. Call time for students will be 3:00pm. 
 
 
Chicago Band Trip: All required travel and medication forms are past due.These forms can be found on the Trip Information page on the band website at http://www.prhsbands.org/2018-band-trip-info.html. If you need to make special arrangements for your payments, please contact our Trip Coordinator Kim Mikitka by phone (800) 373-1423 ext. 243 or via email at [email protected]. Payments are due in full by tomorrow, October 15th.
 
 
Parent Volunteers: Please contact the following Booster Chairs to volunteer this week: (Chaperoning) Mrs. Eileen Fuentes at [email protected], (Healthy Snack) Mr. Buddy Rainey at [email protected], or (Truck Crew) Mr. Wilfredo Figueroa at [email protected]. All parent volunteers will need to wear the pink lanyard for this Friday’s game. Mr. Bigler and/or Mrs. Fuentes will give our lanyards upon arrival on Friday. Please remember to return your lanyard at the end of the evening. If you’re able to help volunteer for the Collier County Band show, we need parent volunteers for bus parking and ticket sales.
