Thank you to everyone who came out to support the team, cheer, JROTC, and the Marching Pride at last Friday night’s game. Our students had a great time and a very strong performance during halftime. The Marching Pride is not traveling with the team this week, so our next game will be away at Barron Collier High School on Friday, September 2nd.
We’d like to thank all of our parent volunteers who helped in last Friday night’s game. If you volunteered to work as a chaperone, in concessions, or with the equipment crew, thank you so much for giving your time and support to our students! We hope to see you again with some new faces at the next home game on Friday, September 9th! Our Band Boosters are holding their first meeting of the year on Monday at 7:00pm in the band room. Parents should park in the Faculty Parking Lot and use the Band Entrance located in between the Auditorium and Main School Entrance. All parents are encouraged to attend. This meeting is not for students. Senior Banner Pictures will be on Tuesday during class. There’s Early Dismissal on Thursday, but we still have after school practice! Friday is the deadline to register for our Trip to Texas. We’re also starting our first trip fundraiser on Friday by pre-selling tickets for the upcoming Car Wash. Here are last week’s Marchers and Section of the week. Honorable Mentions: Angel Garcia (woodwinds), Malia Hubbell (brass), Joanna Gutierrez (percussion), Damara Georges (auxiliary), and Shaun Anderson (officer). Marchers of the Week: Enrique Arizmendi (woodwinds), Michael Kovalenko (brass), Cadence Pind (percussion), Thais Chan (auxiliary), and Ray Patterson (officer). The Section of the Week was the Saxophone Section led by Section Leaders Brandon Lopez and Shaun Anderson! Congratulations! Here’s what you need to know for our upcoming events. This Week’s Schedule: Monday (8/22)
2023 Band Trip to Texas: If you missed last week’s Trip Meeting, please email Mrs. Robinson for the trip information. Registration is due online by Friday, August 26th. The first deposit is due by Friday, September 2nd. We are creating a separate email group for families who attended the meeting. Please contact Mrs. Robinson if you missed the meeting and want to be added to the list. Senior Banner Pictures (Tues. 8/23): The Band Photographer will be here on Tuesday during the school day to take pictures of our seniors for their banners. All seniors need to arrive prepared for class so that all they need to do is change into uniform. Students will not have time to do their hair and/or makeup during class. Band students will wear their marching band uniform without hats and gloves. They will also need their instruments. Auxiliary students will wear their pregame uniform and they will need either poms, a flag, or rifle. If you did not get an email from the photographer, please contact Mrs. Robinson. Car Wash Fundraiser (Sat. 9/10): The Band Boosters are holding their first Trip Fundraiser; a Car Wash. Students will have the opportunity to pre-sell car wash tickets. For every ticket sold, students will earn $5 towards their Trip to Texas. Ticket sales will start on Friday, August 26th and end on Thursday, September 8th. The Car Wash will be on Saturday, September 10th from 10:00am-3:00pm on Wilson Blvd. behind Fayard Hardware. We will need student and parent volunteers for this event. Students will be able to sign-up in the band room. Parent volunteers should contact Mr. Anthony Rowtie at [email protected]. All-State Auditions: All-State Auditions will be held at Lely High School on Saturday, September 24th. Students who are not taking private lessons will have to pass a pre-audition with either Mrs. Robinson or Mr. Claro by this Friday, August 26th. Please contact Mrs. Robinson or Mr. Claro to schedule your pre-audition. Instrument Repair & Equipment: Our trusted local vendors are Cadence Music and Christman Music. Both vendors can drop off orders and pick-up instruments for repair at PRHS—but parents have to call to make arrangements ahead of time. Instruments will not be picked up unless orders for repair are placed ahead of time. Contact information for Cadence Music and Christman Music can be found on the band website under “Students” --> “Band Instrument Resources.” Marching Pride Sponsors: We are reaching out to local businesses and contributors to the arts to help fund our program. Every gift matters and helps to provide our students with life-changing experiences. If you or a business you know of is interested in donating to the Marching Pride, please contact our Band Booster President Mr. Anthony Rowtie at [email protected] or Mrs. Robinson at [email protected]. Questions? Please email Mrs. Robinson at [email protected].
