We had a great first week of band camp! Please be aware of the schedule changes for this week. 
 
Every week, students are recognized for outstanding marching, performance, and attitude. Since this is the first week of band camp, we recognized one new and one returning member in each section. Congratulations to our Marchers of the Week: Rachel Rojas (new woodwind), Natalia Torres-Velez (returning woodwind), Joshua Loewel (new brass), Anthony Castillo (returning brass), Diego Font (new percussion), Willow Huskin (returning percussion), Haylie Nguyen (new auxiliary), and Serenity Watson (returning auxiliary). We also recognize one section for overall outstanding enthusiasm, marching, and performance. Congratulations to our Section of the Week, the Trombone Section led by section leaders Joshua Holt and Dylan Detweiler! These students will be posted on the band website every week at: https://www.prhsbands.org/2019-2020-info.html.
 
This week of Band Camp is Spirit Week! All students are encouraged to participate. Please see below for details. 
 
We’re holding our Marching PrideParent Volunteer Meeting this Monday at 6:30pm for all parents who are interested in helping throughout the year.
 
Freshmen Orientation is on Thursday from 4:00-8:00pm. Freshmen will be dismissed from band camp at 3:30pm so they can attend orientation.
 
Lastly, we’re having our End of Band Camp Party on Friday from 6:00-9:00pm in the cafeteria. There will be free food and music. All students are encouraged to attend!
 
 
This Week’s Schedule: (It’s Spirit Week!)
 
Monday (8/5) – Twin Day
  • Band Camp, 8:00am-4:00pm
  • Lunch will be 11:30am-12:15pm
  • Uniform fittings for new members (during camp)
  • Marching Pride Parent Volunteer Meeting, 6:30pm in the band room
Tuesday (8/6) – Color Wars
  • Band Camp, 1:00-8:30pm
  • Dinner will be 5:00-5:30pm
  • Uniform fittings for new members (during camp)
Wednesday (8/7) – Character Day
  • Band Camp, 1:00-8:30pm
  • Dinner will be 5:00-5:30pm
  • Uniform fittings for new members (during camp)
Thursday (8/8) – Meme Day
  • Band Camp, 1:00-8:30pm
  • PRHS Freshmen Orientation, 4:00-8:00pm 
  • Dinner will be 5:00-5:30pm
  • Uniform fittings for new members (during camp)
Friday (8/9) – Spirit Day
  • Band Camp, 1:00-6:00pm (no dinner break)
  • Uniform fittings for new members (during camp)
  • End of Band Camp Party, 6:00-9:00pm in the cafeteria
 
 
Parking this week (VERY IMPORTANT): For those of us who drive to band camp (staff and directors included), please don’t forget that we have to park in the student parking lot this week!
 
 
Spirit Week: Each day has a special theme. All students are encouraged to participate to show their enthusiasm and Esprit de Corps! Please see a student officer if you have any questions on how to participate. As always, all attire must be in line with the school dress code. Also, students will have to be able to march/dance/spin/play their instrument while in their Spirit Week attire. 
 
 
Marching Pride Order Forms & Payments (Past due): This weekend we placed our orders for marching band shoes, garment bags, gloves, auxiliary shoes, tights, earrings, duffle bags, and pirouettes. If you have not turned in your order form and/or payments that were due at the Kick-Off Meeting, please do so at your earliest convenience. The longer you wait, the more likely you are to not have your required items on time.
 
 
Band & Auxiliary Shoe Orders (Past due): Attached to this email is the list of students whose shoes have been ordered. If your name is not on the list, or if your size listed is incorrectly, please contact Mrs. Robinson at robina2@collierschools.com. If you still need to order your marching band shoes, you will need to turn in your order form and payment by this Friday (8/9).  
 
 
Required Forms & Physical (Due Tues. 8/13): Forms can be found at: https://www.prhsbands.org/uploads/1/0/7/8/107847845/required_band_forms.pdf. These forms are extremely important, please do not delay on turning them in! The hard deadline for these forms is Tuesday, August 13th. Students will not be allowed to attend after school rehearsals or performances without their forms. 
 
 
Band Camp Lunch/Dinner: Please do not forget to bring a bagged lunch/dinner to camp this week. The lunch break on Monday will be from 11:30am-12:15pm. The dinner break will be from 5:00-5:30pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. There will be no dinner break on Friday since we’re ending at 6:00pm. Students are not allowed to leave campus during these breaks. If parents wish, they may choose to drop off food at the school for their student. 
 
 
Marching Pride Parent Volunteer Meeting (Mon. 8/5): This meeting is for any parents who are interested in volunteering in concessions, chaperoning, and/or truck crew. The meeting will start at 6:30pm in the band room. All volunteers interested in helping with the concession stand are required to watch a video and take a short test. This requirement is coming from the District. We will be presenting this video and test at this meeting. We hope to see you all there. If you have any questions, please contact our Booster President, Anthony Rowtie at kb2sfa@yahoo.com. 
 
 
PRHS Freshmen Orientation (Thurs. 8/8): The school is holding freshmen orientation from 4:00-8:00pm. Orientation will start in the auditorium. All freshmen will leave band camp and go to orientation. We will dismiss freshmen students from band camp at 3:30pm. We strongly recommend that freshmen eat their dinner when dismissed at 3:30pm. Students should return to band camp after their orientation. We hope to be on the field learning drill at that time. 
 
 
End of Band Camp Party (Fri. 8/9): Our Band Boosters will be hosting the annual End of Band Camp Party from 6:00-9:00pm in the cafeteria. This party is only for current Marching Pride students. There will be food, drinks, and DJ Font will be providing the musical entertainment! This is a great opportunity for the students to celebrate and socialize. The party is not required, but it is highly recommended! SENIORS, we will take a Marching Pride Senior Class of 2020 picture at 9:15pm in the cafeteria. Parents, please make arrangements so that your students are picked up by 9:30pm. Any parents who are interested in chaperoning this party should email Head Chaperone, Eileen Fuentes at prhschap@gmail.com. 
 
 
2019-2020 Marching Pride Swag: Our swag for the 2019-2020 season is now available for viewing on our band website https://www.prhsbands.org/marching-pride-swag.html. The order form is available online and in the band room. Orders will be collected in the “Band Booster Box” located in the band room. 
 
 
Old Marching Band Uniforms: If you’re still interested in purchasing a piece of Marching Pride history, these items will be available for sale after camp on Thursday, August 8th from 8:30-9:00pm. 
 
 
All-State Auditions (Sat. 9/21): All State Auditions will be on Saturday, September 21st at Golden Gate Middle School. Students interested in auditioning for All State must notify Mrs. Robinson by August 13th.
 
 
Publix Fundraiser (Sat. 8/17 & Sun. 8/18): Our next fundraiser event will be at the Publix at Pebblebrook from 10:00am-6:00pm. We are asking for volunteers to work 2 hour shifts. The shift will require you to sit at a table asking for donations as customers exit the Publix.
