Weekly Update

Thank you to everyone who came out to last week’s Rhythm of the Pride Recital. Congratulations to all our performing students, especially our seniors!
 
Congratulations to our Wind Ensemble on an amazing State Concert Band MPA Performance! They are the first Palmetto Ridge High School band to receive the Otto J. Kraushaar Award, an award given to bands who earn Straight Superior ratings at District Marching MPA, District Concert Band MPA, and State Concert Band MPA. Congratulations to all of our performing students and thank you for all of your hard work and dedication! Last Friday night is one that we will never forget!
 
This week we are traveling to a few of our local elementary schools. Students who are assigned to perform at Palmetto Elementary and Sabal Palm Elementary must turn in an alternate travel form to attend. Mrs. Robinson is accepting these forms via email. Please arrive at Palmetto Elementary by 1:50pm on Monday afternoon. On Friday, students should arrive at Sabal Palm Elementary by 8:30am. All performing students must wear a PRHS Marching Pride shirt, neutral-colored bottoms, and gym shoes.
 
On Tuesday, we are holding our first Drum Major Workshop of the year. These workshops are open to all students who are applying for an officer position.
 
On Wednesday, Mrs. Robinson is meeting with the students in the Stand Tune Committee at 11:50am in the band room. Please have your lists and be prepared to present your selections.  
 
On Friday, our drumline and auxiliary will perform during lunch for a Signing Day for students who are joining the military. All performing students must wear a PRHS Marching Pride shirt, neutral-colored bottoms, and gym shoes. Please be lined up outside of the band room by 11:45am and bring a packed lunch.

Auxiliary Auditions (Mon. 5/1, Tues. 5/2, Fri. 5/3): Auxiliary auditions for next year’s auxiliary team are in May on the dates provided. The registration link provided on the flyer will close at 10:00pm on Sunday, 4/31. Students can register at: https://forms.gle/bpwbwTuxZJcwiKzLA. Please help spread the word to prospective new members.
 
Band Booster Senior Scholarships (Applications Due Thurs. 5/4): This year our Band Boosters are offering 2 senior scholarship awards, the Daileen Alfonso Scholarship Award, and the Julie Ann Johnson Scholarship Award. These awards will be presented at the Band Awards Banquet on Saturday, May 13th. Students who are interested in applying must complete the online application and essay by Thursday, May 4th. Marching Pride Scholarships (Applications Due Thurs. 5/4): This year our Band Boosters have received a very generous donation to be put towards scholarship opportunities for our current members. These are not annual awards, and these will not be offered next year. There are 4 senior scholarships open to any graduating member of the Palmetto Ridge Marching Pride for $550. The student must be attending a regionally accredited community college, college, or university in the school term to begin in the Fall 2023. Two scholarships will be awarded to those who plan on majoring in music and two scholarships will be awarded to those who are non-music majors.  There are also 6 scholarships open to any returning percussion or auxiliary member of the Palmetto Ridge Marching Pride for $400. The student must be attending the Penny's Camp at Eckerd College on June 25-28. For more information on the camp, please visit www.pennyscamp.com. Drum Major Auditions & Officer Applications (Applications Due Fri. 5/5): Students who are interested in applying for an officer position for next year will have to sign-up to join the Marching Pride Officer Canvas Page. Mrs. Robinson sent invitations to the page last week. This Canvas Page is the only way students can access and turn in applications and contracts. Please contact Mrs. Robinson for more information.
 
2023-2024 Marching Pride Commitment Forms & Fees (Due Mon. 5/15): Commitment Forms and Fees for next year are due by Monday, May 15th. If you missed our Information Meeting, please contact Mrs. Robinson for the meeting handouts. Also, be sure to sign-up for next year’s emails at https://forms.gle/H1ZTuGuS3rC85xr59.
