Congratulations to both of our jazz bands on having an outstanding performance at this year’s District Jazz MPA! Jazz 2 earned an Excellent rating and Jazz 1 earned Straight Superior ratings! Jazz 1 qualified for State and we will request to travel to Wellington Community High School on Wednesday, March 22nd. We are so proud of all our jazz band students! These students will perform their MPA music at the Mid-Year Band Concert on Wednesday, February 22nd. We hope to see you there!
 
This year we had 67 student events at District Solo & Ensemble MPA, more than twice the amount that we had last year! It is a huge accomplishment for students to perform at District Solo & Ensemble MPA. These students all independently prepared their solo and/or ensemble music by putting in extra time and effort and we’re extremely proud of all our performing students: Diego Font, Liam Rezende, Eden Dalusma, Christian Alvarez, Isaiah Perez Lozada, Matthew Ford, Trevor Tess, Caleb Calabrese, Marcos Robaina, Jasmine Saltarin, Kevin Milord, Bianka Munoz, Maria Gallegos-Castro, Edith Garcia, Shelby Newransky, Kleber Flores-Hernandez, Eddie Feliciano, Andy Bonet, Jack Waligora, Jeremy Walsh, Carlos Cazorla Vergel, John Carvajal, Marc Robinson, Kendall Thomas, Carmen Ledo, Amanda Moraga, Fabiana Cortazar, Enrique Arizmendi, Carlos Mejia, Santiago Nieto, Madison Orsini, Raul Parada, Laci Prue, Mason Duryea, Ryan Rowtie, Benjamin Llorca, Blake Waligora, Jonathan Ramirez-Santiago, Remington Newton, Jonathan Eysaman, Andrew Borbor, Anna Hudson, Brandon Lopez, Shaun Anderson, Michael Gordon, Corey Newell, Sara Hudson, Christopher Alvarez, Daniel Ramirez-Santiago, Miranda Ramos, Taylor Holmes, Ellie Carvajal, and Gabriella Chaviano.
 
The following student earned a superior rating on their solos and/or ensembles: Diego Font, Liam Rezende, Eden Dalusma, Christian Alvarez, Isaiah Perez Lozada, Matthew Ford, Kleber Flores-Hernandez, Eddie Feliciano, Andy Bonet, Jack Waligora, Jeremy Walsh, Carlos Cazorla Vergel, John Carvajal, Marc Robinson, Kendall Thomas, Carmen Ledo, Amanda Moraga, Fabiana Cortazar, Enrique Arizmendi, Carlos Mejia, Santiago Nieto, Madison Orsini, Raul Parada, Laci Prue, Mason Duryea, Ryan Rowtie, Benjamin Llorca, Blake Waligora, Jonathan Ramirez-Santiago, Remington Newton, Jonathan Eysaman, Andrew Borbor, Anna Hudson, Michael Gordon, Ellie Carvajal, and Gabriella Chaviano. Students who earned a superior rating on a grade 5 piece or harder qualified to go on to State Solo & Ensemble MPA. State S&E MPA will be at Wellington Community High School on March 20-22. We will request for our performing students to perform on March 22nd. Students who wish to move on to State MPA must complete the attached agreement form and return it to Mrs. Robinson by Tuesday, February 14th.
 
Here are last week’s Musicians/Performers and Section of the Week. Honorable Mentions: Brianna Meske (wind symphony), Remington Newton (jazz band 1) Justin Luque (jazz band 2), Andy Bonet (wind ensemble), Shaun Anderson (symphonic winds), Isaiah Perez Lozada (percussion), and Amaya Strafford (auxiliary). Musician’s of the week: Henry Strom (wind symphony), Santiago Nieto (jazz band 1), Jackson Imbus (jazz band 2), Ellie Carvajal (wind ensemble), Jonathan Ramirez-Santiago (symphonic winds), and Eden Dalusma (percussion). The Performer of the Week is Tatiana Hernandez (auxiliary). The Section of the Week goes to all our S&E performing students! Congratulations and keep up the good work!

CCPS Concert Pre-MPA (Thurs. 2/16): Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Winds are both performing at this year’s CCPS Concert Pre-MPA. The event will be held at Palmetto Ridge High School. This event is where our concert bands will have their first public performance in preparation for District Concert MPA. They will also receive comments from guest judges. Admission is free and all are welcome to attend. Our Wind Ensemble will be performing at 5:00pm in the auditorium. Symphonic Winds is now performing at 5:45pm. Call time for Wind Ensemble is 4:00pm, call time for Symphonic Winds is 4:45pm. Students will wear their concert attire and report to the band room at call time.
 
FFCC Varsity Guard Competition (Sat. 2/18): Varsity Guard is competing in an FFCC Regional Competition at Seminole Ridge High School on Saturday, February 18th. Mr. Claro will be traveling with the team along with parent chaperones. Call time 9:00am. Students will practice from 9:00-10:30am. Students will need to bring a packed lunch. The performance is at 3:16pm. The approximate return to PRHS is 6:00pm. Seminole Ridge is offering a variety of food, snacks, and drinks at their concession stand. They will only take CASH payments. Please be prepared. Admission is $15. Please purchase you tickets ahead of time at https://gofan.co/app/events/883474?schoolId=FL25436. Student performers DO NOT need to purchase admission. Alternate Travel Requests are due by Wednesday, February 15th.
 
Mid-Year Band Concert (Wed. 2/22): This year’s Mid-Year Band Concert will be on Wednesday, February 22nd at 6:00pm in the auditorium. This concert will feature two concert bands from Immokalee Middle School, Cypress Palm Middle School’s Advanced Band, Corkscrew Middle School’s Symphonic Band, all three PRHS concert bands, both PRHS jazz bands, and a few select Solo & Ensemble performances. Admission is free and our Band Boosters will be offering snacks and drinks in the lobby. Please save the date, we hope to see you there!
 
District Auxiliary MPA (Fri. 2/24): All indoor auxiliary groups are required to perform at District Auxiliary MPA. Auxiliary MPA will be at Lely High School on Friday, February 24th. Our indoor groups and soloists will be performing at Lely from 8:30am-12:30pm. Students will travel to and from Lely via school bus. Alternate travel forms are due by Friday, February 17th. Call time will be 6:00am. The approximate return to PRHS is 2:00pm.
 
Possible Jazz 1 Performance (Sat. 2/25): Jazz Band 1 has be invited to perform at the Naples Grande Resort for the Champions of Learning Golden Apple Awards Night. We are still waiting on confirmation if the performance is approved. If it is approved, students will meet at the Naples Grande Resort at 5:00pm and they will be done by 7:00pm. Students will have to provide their own transportation to this event. More details will be provided in class.
 
District Concert Band MPA (Thurs. 3/2 and Fri. 3/3): Concert Band MPA will be held at Gulf Coast High School. All bands will travel to and from Gulf Coast via school bus. Alternate travel forms are due by Monday, February 27th. Wind Symphony and Symphonic Winds will perform on Thursday, March 2nd. Call time will be 4:00pm. Approximate return to PRHS is 9:00pm. Wind Ensemble will perform on Friday, March 3rd. Call time will be 5:00pm. Approximate return to PRHS is 8:30pm. (These times are tentative and may change.) All students must have their concert band attire to perform at District Concert Band MPA. In addition to the concert band attire, students will wear solid black socks and solid black dress shoes. Marching band shoes are permissible. The schedule is posted in the band room.
 
Concert Band Attire: By now all band students should have their concert attire ready. It is each band family’s responsibility to order and purchase these uniforms. All band students are required to turn in a picture of their concert attire through the assignment page posted on Canvas. This assignment will count as a grade in the “Tests and Assignments” category. This assignment is due by Friday, February 17th.  In addition to the concert attire, students are to wear solid black dress shoes. Marching band shoes are sufficient. Information is attached to this email and is also posted on the band website under the “Students” tab under “2022-2023 Information.”
