Weekly Update

This week SGA is hosting Operation Kindness Week at PRHS. Each day has a theme. Please consider participating to promote Kindness at The Ridge.

• Monday – Superhero Day (Wear your favorite superhero t-shirt to support those battling illness)
• Tuesday -  Double the Kindness Day (Match outfits with a friend)
• Wednesday – “Wear a Cause” (Support a cause by wearing a certain color. Ex. Pink for breast cancer, blue for autism, green for mental health, etc. )
• Thursday – “Peace Love and Kindness” (wear tie dye or bright colors to help spread the love)
• Friday – “Dreaming of Kindness” (wear school appropriate pajamas)

 
This week’s Marching Pride Student Recognition goes to our students who volunteered at last week’s Publix Fundraiser. Thank you for taking the time to help our Band Boosters raise money for our upcoming Band Banquet!

We’d also like to thank our students who visited the 8th graders at CMS and CPMS, and those who performed at the CES and SPES Pep Rallies last week. Thank you so much for giving your time to help promote band and the PRHS Marching Pride. These students received extra credit on Focus. Please contact Mrs. Robinson if you were not given credit.

2024-2025 Band Placement Auditions (Mon. 4/22 through Wed. 4/24): All woodwind and brass students grades 9-11 in Wind Symphony and Symphonic Winds will have a playing test this week. These tests are scheduled by appointment, the schedule is posted in the band room. These playing tests will be graded, and they will determine concert band placements, jazz band placements, and marching band part assignments for next year. These test scores will also be used to help determine officer positions for next year. Incoming Freshmen who are interested in auditioning must email Mrs. Robinson to schedule an appointment.

2024-2025 Marching Pride Percussion Auditions: Percussion Placement Auditions for the 2024-2025 season are this week Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in the band room. Tuesday and Wednesday will go from 5:00-7:00pm. On Thursday, we will go from 5:30-7:30pm to help accommodate the CMS students who have a performance conflict. Interested students should complete the online audition registration with the provided QR code prior to auditions. Please bring a pair of sticks, a practice pad, a pencil, earplugs, and wear gym shoes.
 
Drum Major Workshops & Officer Applications: We are holding Drum Major Workshops on Wednesday, April 24th, Wednesday, May 1st, and Monday, May 6th. These workshops are for all who want to attend. Students who are applying for a section leader or captain position are strongly encouraged to attend as the first half of the workshop will include leadership discussions. Students who are interested in applying for any officer position for the 2024-2025 school year will be invited to the Marching Pride Officer Canvas Page on Wednesday. Officer applications will be due by 5:00pm on Friday, May 3rd.
 
2024-2025 Marching Pride Auxiliary Auditions: Auxiliary Auditions for the 2024-2025 season are on May 7, 8, and 10. Interested students should complete the online registration with the provided QR code prior to auditions. New members will wear a white shirt, returning members will wear a black shirt (no crop tops, sports bras etc.) and both will wear black bottoms. Shorts must be worn with tights or spandex underneath. Spandex only is not allowed. Wear gym shoes or dance shoes. Hair must be pulled back. Please do not wear hanging jewelry (necklace, hanging earrings/hoops, bracelets/smart watches).
 
FGCU Music Day (Thurs. 4/25): FGCU faculty and music majors are coming to visit PRHS on Thursday, April 25th during 5th period and lunch. Interested students should contact Mrs. Robinson. They will discuss music major options available at FGCU along with opportunities on how to continue music after high school. Participating students will be provided with pizza for lunch.
 
State Concert Band MPA (Mon. 4/29): Wind Ensemble is performing at State Concert Band MPA on Monday, April 29th at Broward College. Call time is 12:00pm. We will stop at the Sawgrass Mill Mall to eat an early dinner. We must be seated at Broward College by 5:15pm. Our performance time is 7:30pm. The approximate return to PRHS is 10:00pm.
 
2024 Band Awards Banquet RSVP (Due by Mon. 5/6): Our Band Awards Banquet is on Thursday, May 16th. Please RSVP by 2:00pm on Monday, May 6th at https://forms.gle/FQwzUoQCajUMTtRq8. The banquet will start with dinner for the students at 5:00pm. Awards will start at 6:00pm in the auditorium and last until about 8:00pm. We hope to provide the students with a dance in the cafeteria from 8:00-10:00pm. The dinner and dance portion is only for current students and is at no cost. All parents, family, and friends are invited to the awards ceremony in the auditorium. Attire for students range from casual to semi-formal.
 
RaiseRight Fundraiser: Don’t forget that the Band Boosters are holding a RaiseRight competition until April 28th! The Band Boosters will give out 3 Amazon gift cards to the 3 families that have the most gift card purchases from April 7th through April 28th. First place will win $75, second $50, and third $25!
