Happy New Year and welcome back! We hope that you all had a wonderful holiday season and that you were all able to catch up on your rest and work over the past two weeks.
 
Mrs. Robinson will go over the 2021 event list in class on Monday to answer any questions. She will also provide information on how to sign up for some of our upcoming events.

Music Masks: From now on, all woodwind and brass students are expected to wear their music masks during class on a regular basis. Music masks will be required for all students during all PRHS performances. Students who are returning to in person learning in the second semester who did not do marching band season on campus, will have to purchase a music mask for $15.
 
Indoor Auxiliary Groups: Now that we’re in Indoor Season for auxiliary, the class will now be separated into three groups: Dance, JV Guard, and Varsity Guard. After school rehearsals for dance will start this week and JV Guard and Varsity Guard will start their after school rehearsals next week. These after school rehearsals are required as a grade for the class. Since we are preparing for MPA and competition, we are only allowing students who attend class on campus during the school day to prepare with these groups. Virtual auxiliary students will learn their work during class and complete the make-up assignments for any MPA/competition related events online. Competition season will end by spring break. After spring break, the auxiliary team will be combined for their after school practices to prepare for their Rhythm of the Pride Recital. At that point, virtual students may choose to participate in after school rehearsals and the Rhythm of the Pride performance. This decision was made by Mrs. Robinson and she has asked for support from the PRHS Administration and District. Concert Band Season: The band will continue to prepare in their three groups: Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Symphonic Wind Symphony. After school rehearsals for band will start in the week of February 16th. These after school rehearsals will be required as a grade for the class. Since we are preparing for MPA, we are only allowing students who attend class on campus during the school day to prepare with these groups. Virtual band students will learn their work during class and complete the make-up assignments for any MPA related events online. MPA season will end in mid-April. After MPA, the concert bands will prepare for their annual Spring Band Concert. At that point, virtual students may choose to participate in after school rehearsals and the Spring Band Concert performance. This decision was made by Mrs. Robinson and she has asked for support from the PRHS Administration and District. All County Honor Band Auditions (January 20-24): The deadline to sign-up for All County Auditions is Wednesday, January 6th. Auditions will be virtual through Canvas from January 20-24. Since Honor Band preparation is completed outside of the classroom, virtual students may choose to participate in this event.
 
District Solo & Ensemble MPA (February 12-13): The deadline to sign-up for District Solo & Ensemble MPA is Wednesday, January 6th. Solo & Ensemble MPA will be virtual this year on February 12-13. Students may choose to either perform a live Zoom meeting with the judge or they can submit a video recording. All performing students will receive a rating and comments from their judge. Since Solo & Ensemble preparation is completed outside of the classroom, virtual students may choose to participate in this event.
 
District Auxiliary MPA (February 13): All auxiliary groups will perform at District Auxiliary MPA. All Varsity Guard, Dance, and virtual auxiliary students are required to perform a solo at MPA. The deadline to sign-up for a solo event is Wednesday, January 6th. Auxiliary MPA will be virtual this year on February 13. Mrs. Robinson will submit a video of all performing groups and soloists who will receive a rating and comments from their judge.
 
District Jazz MPA (February 25-26): As of right now, we plan on taking both jazz bands District Jazz MPA. Jazz MPA will be virtual this year on February 25 and 26. Mrs. Robinson will submit a video of all performing groups who will receive comments from their judges. Since we are preparing for MPA, we are only allowing students who attend class during the school day to prepare with these groups. Virtual band students will learn their work during class and complete the make-up assignments for any MPA related events online. MPA season will end in mid-April. PRHS Solo & Ensemble Competition (February 27): PRHS will be hosting an in person Solo & Ensemble Competition on Saturday, February 27th. This event is only for PRHS band and auxiliary students. Students will have the opportunity to perform live for a judge to earn a gold, silver, or bronze medal. All indoor auxiliary groups will be performing at this competition. Virtual band and auxiliary students may choose to participate in this event as well.
