Happy Labor Day Weekend! We hope everyone can catch up on some rest and family time this weekend.
Last Friday night’s game was a tough loss for our team, but we had a great time traveling to Barron Collier HS to cheer them on! Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate, and we could not do our drum circle with the Cougar Band. I guess we will try again next year! This Friday’s game is a home game and has been designated as Patriotic Night! Our SGA and JROTC will be recognizing our veterans, active-duty military, and first responders. There will be a special presentation by our SGA and JROTC during pregame. Everyone is encouraged to wear red, white, and blue. On Saturday, our Band Boosters are holding a Car Wash Fundraiser. The Car Wash will take place behind Fayard Hardware on Wilson Blvd. and Golden Gate Blvd. The Car Wash will take place from 10:00am-3:00pm. Here are last week’s Marchers and Section of the week. Honorable Mentions: Elyssa Larach (woodwinds), Jasmine Saltarin (brass), Cadence Pind (percussion), Damara Georges and Jayde Naas (auxiliary), and Michael Quintana (officer). Marchers of the Week: Carlos Cazorla-Vergal (woodwinds), Mason Duryea (brass), Liam Rezende (percussion), Abigail Teuscher (auxiliary), Daniel Ramirez-Santiago (officer). The Section of the Week was the Sousaphone Section led by Section Leaders Eddie Feliciano and Raheim Rose! Congratulations! Here’s what you need to know for our upcoming events. This Week’s Schedule: Monday (9/5)
Thursday Rehearsal Attire (Thurs. 9/8): For this Thursday, band students will wear a dark green shirt with dark colored shorts. Auxiliary will wear a white shirt with black bottoms. Home Game vs. Lake Brantley HS (Fri. 9/9): Call time for students is 5:00pm. The band room will be closed after school on Friday from 2:30-4:30pm. This Friday, band students will wear their full marching band uniform and auxiliary will wear their pregame uniform! Underneath their uniform, all band students will wear this year’s black Mad World shirt, this year’s black marching band shorts, tall black crew socks, and marching band shoes. Auxiliary students will wear their pregame top, pregame leggings, tights, black auxiliary shoes, earrings, and full hair and makeup. The game starts at 7:00pm and tickets are available on [gofan.co]gofan.co. Please be prepared to pick-up your student around 10:00pm. Students will text and call their rides when they return to the band room at the end of the game. Stadium Clean-up (Fri. 9/9): As part of our agreement in selling concessions, it our responsibility to help clean up the stadium after every home game. Clean-up duty is assigned by section, and it alternates for every game. This Friday, clean-up duty is assigned to the Brass Section. (Percussion and Auxiliary will have the next game. Woodwinds will have the game after that.) Students will be provided with gloves when they return to the stadium. This process does not take long when all assigned students help out. Car Wash Fundraiser (Sat. 9/10): The Band Boosters are holding their first Trip Fundraiser; a Car Wash. Students will have the opportunity to pre-sell car wash tickets. For every ticket sold, students will earn $5 towards their Trip to Texas. Ticket sales will end on Thursday, September 8th. The Car Wash will be on Saturday, September 10th from 10:00am-3:00pm on Wilson Blvd. behind Fayard Hardware. We will need student and parent volunteers for this event. Students will be able to sign-up in the band room. Parent volunteers should contact Mr. Anthony Rowtie at [email protected]. Tri-M Music Honor Society Info Meeting (Mon. 9/12): Tri-M is holding an information meeting on Monday, September 12th at 2:15pm in the band room. Tri-M Music Honor Society is a program of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), which focuses on creating future leaders in music education and music advocacy. Students must also have completed at least one full year of band, orchestra, choir, or auxiliary, they must have maintained an “A” average grade in their music class in the previous year and they must have at least a 3.0 unweighted GPA. All-State Auditions (Sat. 9/24): All-State Auditions will be held at Lely High School on Saturday, September 24th. Students will have to provide their own transportation to Lely HS. These auditions are for selected students who passed a pre-audition. Audition times will be given when received. Marching Pride Sponsors: We are reaching out to local businesses and contributors to the arts to help fund our program. Special funding projects that could use sponsors include the cost to transport instruments to marching competitions and the cost to transport instruments to Texas. Every gift helps to provide our students with life-changing experiences. If you or a business you know of is interested in donating to the Marching Pride, please contact our Band Booster President Mr. Anthony Rowtie at [email protected].
