This is a big week for band! Our Jazz Bands have their District MPA on Friday at Lely High School and select students have their District Solo & Ensemble MPA at Lely High School on Friday or Saturday. Our Band Boosters are holding their monthly meeting on Monday, February 6th at 7:00pm in the band room. We hope to see you there! Here are last week’s Musicians/Performers and Section of the Week. Honorable Mentions: Jaycee Acosta (wind symphony), Ryan Rowtie (jazz band 1) TBD (jazz band 2), Michael Gordon (wind ensemble), Kevin Feria (symphonic winds), John Leveck (percussion), and Eliana Alicea (auxiliary). Musician’s of the week: Alex Bonet (wind symphony), Liam Rezende (jazz band 1), TBD (jazz band 2), Amanda Moraga (wind ensemble), Raul Parada (symphonic winds), and Christian Alvarez (percussion). Here's what you need to know for our upcoming events. This Week’s Schedule: Monday (2/6)
District Jazz MPA (Fri. 2/10): Jazz MPA will be held at Lely High School on Friday, February 10th. Both jazz bands will travel to and from Lely via school bus. Alternate travel forms are due by Monday, February 6th. Call time will be 3rd period and the approximate return to PRHS is 6:00pm. All students must have their concert band attire to perform at District Jazz MPA. In addition to the concert band attire, students will wear solid black socks and solid black dress shoes. Marching band shoes are permissible. The schedule is posted in the band room. Students will have to bring a packed lunch, or they can purchase lunch at Lely. District Solo & Ensemble MPA (Fri. 2/10 and Sat. 2/11): All performing students are required to show Mrs. Robinson their original copies with numbered measures by Tuesday, February 7th. Solo & Ensemble MPA will be at Lely High School on Friday, February 10th and Saturday, February 11th. Students will have to provide their own transportation. The performance schedule is posted in the band room. Please plan to arrive early enough to warm-up and find the location of your room. CCPS Concert Pre-MPA (Thurs. 2/16): Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Winds are both performing at this year’s CCPS Concert Pre-MPA. The event will be held at Palmetto Ridge High School. This event is where our concert bands will have their first public performance in preparation for District Concert MPA. They will also receive comments from guest judges. Admission is free and all are welcome to attend. Our Wind Ensemble will be performing at 5:00pm in the auditorium. Symphonic Winds will be performing at 8:30pm. District Auxiliary MPA (Fri. 2/24): All indoor auxiliary groups are required to perform at District Auxiliary MPA. Auxiliary MPA will be at Lely High School on Friday, February 24th. Our indoor groups and soloists will be performing at Lely from 8:30am-12:30pm. Students will travel to and from Lely via school bus. Alternate travel forms are due by Friday, February 17th. Call time will be 6:00am. The approximate return to PRHS is 2:00pm. District Concert Band MPA (Thurs. 3/2 and Fri. 3/3): Concert Band MPA will be held at Gulf Coast High School. All bands will travel to and from Gulf Coast via school bus. Alternate travel forms are due by Monday, February 27th. Wind Symphony and Symphonic Winds will perform on Thursday, March 2nd. Call time will be 4:00pm. Approximate return to PRHS is 9:00pm. Wind Ensemble will perform on Friday, March 3rd. Call time will be 5:00pm. Approximate return to PRHS is 8:30pm. (These times are tentative and may change.) All students must have their concert band attire to perform at District Concert Band MPA. In addition to the concert band attire, students will wear solid black socks and solid black dress shoes. Marching band shoes are permissible. The schedule is posted in the band room. Concert Band Attire: It is each band family’s responsibility to order and purchase these uniforms. The hard deadline is February 15, 2023 for our Mid-Year Band Concert and District Concert Band MPA. Jazz Band students will need their concert attire by February 1, 2023. Information is posted on the band website under the “Students” tab under “2022-2023 Information.” Texas Trip Update: We are still missing required trip forms from several students. Please be sure to turn in your required forms on Monday, February 6th. A list of students who are missing forms was sent in a separate email. Alternate travel requests are also past due.
