Congratulations to all our concert bands on having a very successful District Concert Band MPA! Wind Symphony earned an overall Superior rating and both Symphonic Winds and Wind Ensemble earned straight Superior ratings and qualified for State! State Concert Band MPA will be held at Broward College Central in Davie, Florida on April 20, 21, and 22. We will discuss dates for State in class this week.
 
Congratulations to our Dance Team who earned Elite High Gold ratings on both performances and the Outstanding Performance Award with their Contemporary routine at the Bravo Dance Competition!  
 
This week we have our final trip rehearsal and trip meeting on Monday. We’re just 5 days away from our trip to Texas! On Wednesday, we’ll load instruments and equipment on to the truck for Texas at 6:00pm. Student carry-on bags are due by 7:00am on Thursday morning. Call times for Friday flights are listed below.
 
Here are last week’s Musicians and Performers of the Week for Jazz Band and Auxiliary. Honorable Mentions are Eddie Feliciano (jazz 2), Malia Hubbell (jazz 1), and Damara Georges (auxiliary).  Musicians/Performer of the Week is Dylan Hubbell (jazz 2), Mathyas Jones (jazz 1), and Jillian Paquette (auxiliary). For band, instead of individual Musicians of the Week, we’re going to recognize Sections of the Week for each concert band. Sections of the Week are Trumpets from Wind Symphony, Clarinets from Wind Ensemble, Trumpets from Symphonic Winds, and Wind Ensemble Percussion from Percussion. Congratulations and keep up the good work!
 
Here's what you need to know for our upcoming events.
 
This Week’s Schedule:
Monday (3/6)
  • Band Trip Rehearsal, 2:15-4:30pm
  • Final Band Trip Meeting, 6:30pm
Tuesday (3/7)
  • JV Guard, 2:30-4:30pm
  • Varsity Guard, 4:30-6:30pm
Wednesday (3/8)
  • Tri-M Meeting, 11:50am-12:10pm
  • Dance Practice, 2:15-3:15pm
  • Load the truck for Texas, 6:00pm (volunteers needed!)
Thursday (3/9)
  • Texas Carry-on Bags Due by 7:00am!
  • Dance Practice, 2:15-3:15pm
Friday (3/10) – Leaving for Texas/Last day before Spring Break!
  • Flight Red & Green, Call time 2:00AM. All students will report to the band room and collect their carry-on bags.
  • Flight Orange, Yellow & Blue, Call time 3:30AM. All students will report to the band room and collect their carry-on bags.

Texas Trip Medication, Band Plastic Bags, Auxiliary Duffle Bags, and Toiletries (Past Due):
  • All items must be turned in by Monday, March 6th.
  • Medication needed for the trip should be turned in to the school nurse. (This is only for prescription medication that is needed while on the trip.)
  • Band students turn in their plastic bags with their marching shorts, green band t-shirt, marching band shoes, black socks, black gloves, and a second plastic bag. (These items will be tied to each student’s garment bag, which will go on the truck.) These plastic bags should be a Publix/Walmart/Target/Winn Dixie bag. Please remember to mark your student’s bag with their name and bus number.
  • Auxiliary students turn in their duffle bags with their pregame uniform, tights, shoes, earrings and warm-up jacket, poms (for dance), and toiletry bag. These items should be placed in the student’s auxiliary duffle bag, which will go on the truck.
  • All students & chaperones turn in their toiletry bags. These bags need to be a clear gallon sized Ziploc bag labeled with your name & bus number. This includes shampoo, conditioner, soap, shaving cream, and other toiletries that are not allowed in their carry-on bag. These items will be inspected by Mrs. Robinson and parent chaperones before being transported on the truck.
 
Texas Trip Student Carry-on Bags (Thurs. 3/9): All students must turn in their carry-on bags by 7:00AM on Thursday. These bags will be stored in Room 833 overnight. Our school administration and the Collier County Sheriffs Dept. will inspect all bags. Parents, please check your student’s bag before they report to the school and remove any unnecessary contents. Students are allowed to bring 1 carry-on and 1 personal bag (ie. A purse or small backpack) on their flight. Students and chaperones will not be allowed to check-in their bags at the airport as this will delay the rest of the group. Carry-on bags shouldn’t exceed 22 x 14 x 9 inches
 
Drumline & Auxiliary Performances at the County Fair (Sat. 3/18 and Fri. 3/24): Our drumline and auxiliary has been invited to perform at the Collier County Fair on Saturday, March 18th and Friday, March 24th. Performing students will get free admission to the fair on the night of the performance. A sign-up sheet will be posted in the band room. Interested students must sign-up by Wednesday, March 8th.
 
State Jazz and Solo & Ensemble MPA (Wed. 3/22): State Jazz and State Solo & Ensemble MPA will be held at Wellington Community High School in Palm Beach County on Wednesday, March 22nd. We will share the schedule when it is received.
 
State Auxiliary MPA (Thurs. 3/23): State Auxiliary MPA will be held at Palmetto Ridge High School on Thursday, March 23rd. We will share the schedule when it is received.
