Welcome back! We hope that everyone had a very Happy Thanksgiving! These next three weeks are jam packed with holiday festivities. Be sure to stay updated with all that’s happening by checking the band calendar and our weekly updates.
On Monday, our Band Boosters are holding a Spirit Night at Outback Steakhouse in Founders Square! The Spirit Night goes from open to close, so please help to spread the word. Just be sure to mention the attached flyer when you go to pay your bill so that a portion of your payment goes towards the Marching Pride! Our concert bands and indoor auxiliary groups all have after school rehearsals this week. Wind Symphony is 1st period, Wind Ensemble is 3rd period, and Symphonic Winds is 4th period. Percussion students received their band placements the week before break. On Tuesday, select students will travel to Aubrey Rogers High School for All-County Honor Band Auditions. Good luck to all our participating students! Audition times have been updated, so please be sure to check the updated schedule in the band room on Monday. On Friday, the Marching Pride will be performing in the Ave Maria Hometown Christmas Parade and the Jazz Bands will be performing throughout the evening. We hope to see you there! Now that we’re done with marching band, we still want to recognize our students who go above and beyond week by week, so we will now recognize Musicians and Performers of the week for each class period. We will make these announcements in the band room on Fridays at 12 noon. Here are the Musicians/Performers of Week from the week before break: Honorable Mentions: Dalila Gaspar, Cheyenne Chesser, Caleb Calabrese (Wind Symph), Eden Dalusma, Malia Hubbell (Jazz 1), Brisayda Chavez (Jazz 2), Andrew Borbor, Brisayda Chavez, Gabriela Gaspar, Kevin Milord (Wind Ensemble), Hunter Scott, Kaylyn Garcia (Symph Winds), Christian Alvarez, Xavier Cortinas, Trevor Francois, Ava Jones (Percussion), Thaliana Chavez, Mailuby Figueredo (Dance), Isa Noyola-Estrada (Guard). Make-up Assignments: All missed rehearsals and performances will require a make-up assignment. Instructions on how to request a make-up assignment are posted in Canvas under “Modules.” Concert Band Attire: (These uniforms are for all band students.) All band students will need a concert band uniform. It is each band family’s responsibility to order and purchase these uniforms. All uniforms take at least 2 weeks to be shipped, please do not wait until the last minute. Concert gowns and pants will need to be hemmed, so please take that into consideration when placing your orders. Disney Band Trip Information: We are missing quite a few second payments and room request forms for the Disney Band Trip. Please be sure to turn these in on Monday during class. More details were sent via email. All-County Honor Band Auditions (Tues. 11/28): This year’s All-County Honor Band Auditions will be held at Aubrey Rogers High School. Audition times and room locations have changed and will be re-posted in the band room on Monday. The required contract and travel authorization forms are PAST DUE. Students will not be allowed to audition without the required forms. If you still need to turn in the required forms, please do so by Monday in class. Instead of our marching band hats, all students are encouraged to wear a Santa hat or any other kind of holiday themed headwear. Auxiliary students will wear their pregame top, black leggings, tights, and black auxiliary shoes. Auxiliary students are also encouraged to wear a Santa hat or any other kind of holiday themed headwear. Jazz band students will march in their jazz concert attire and marching band shoes. When pre-ordering tickets, students will need to specify if they’re purchasing tickets for the Thursday or Friday night concert. Band Picture Day (Tues. 12/12): Band pictures will be on Tuesday, December 12th during class. There is no make-up day, so please do your best to be in class on 12/12. Hair needs to be styled down and they will need their earrings. They will choose their own make-up. Dance students will pose with silver poms, weapon line will need their rifles, and flag line will use their Part 1 flag. Parents can order pictures online at www.pdiportraits.com.
