On Saturday, the Marching Pride competed at the Lehigh Lightning Tournament of Bands Competition. Our students had a great performance, we hope you didn’t miss it! The Marching Pride placed 1st in Class 5A and 2nd Overall! They won Best Music and Best Auxiliary in Class 5A and Best Overall Music and Best Overall Auxiliary. Keep up the hard work, we are so proud of all of you! Congratulations!
We want to thank all our band staff and parent volunteers who came out to support the Marching Pride at Friday’s game and Saturday’s competition. Thank you, Eileen Fuentes, Sandra Llorca, Erika Guerra, Daniel Guerra, Bill Strom, Arthur Feria, Tatiana Ryan, Michelle Jones, and Nidia Law, for their leadership with our Band Boosters and parent volunteers. Thank you all for volunteering your time and for supporting our students and the Marching Pride! This week is another big week! We are rehearsing on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. On Saturday, the Marching Pride is competing in the Riverview Tampa Bay Fall Games Competition. Disney Band Trip registration and the first payment is due by THIS FRIDAY! Please don’t be late! The Section of the Week was the Mellophone Section led by brass captains Kleber Flores-Hernandez and Jack Waligora, and section leaders Samantha Burke and Justin Luque. Congratulations! Make-up Assignments: All missed rehearsals and performances will require a make-up assignment. Instructions on how to request a make-up assignment are posted in Canvas under “Modules.” Thursday Rehearsal Attire (Thurs. 10/19): For this Thursday, band students will wear a gray shirt with dark colored shorts. Auxiliary will wear their normal white on black. Friday Rehearsal Attire (Fri. 10/20): The Marching Pride will rehearse on Friday night instead of rehearsing early on Saturday morning. For Friday night’s rehearsal, band students will wear a white shirt with dark colored shorts. Auxiliary will wear pink on black. PLEASE READ Competition Student Drop-off and Pick-up: For Saturday, please drop-off and pick-up your student in the main loop by the flagpole. All students who drive will park in the Student Parking Lot. Thank you for your cooperation. Alternate Travel Requests (Due by Wed. 10/18): If a parent needs to pick up their student from a band event, they must turn in Alternate Travel Request Form. Alternate Travel Requests are due to Mrs. Robinson THREE DAYS prior to departure and will require administrator approval. This form can be found on the band website: www.prhsbands.org/2023-2024-info.html. As stated in the Band Handbook, Mrs. Robinson will only release students to their parents and legal guardians. More information and instructions are provided on the form. Riverview Tampa Bay Fall Games Competition (Sat. 10/21): Our last competition before State is on Saturday, October 21st at Riverview High School. Call time for students is 1:00pm at PRHS. The full itinerary was sent via email. Disney Band Trip Registration & 1st Payment (Due Fri. 10/20): Trip Registration Ends on Friday, October 20th, which is this Friday. THIS IS A HARD DEADLINE. We will only reserve charter buses for the number of students who have registered and paid their first deposit by Friday, October 20th. Cookie Dough Fundraiser (Due Mon. 10/23): Orders are due by Monday, October 23rd. Please contact Band Booster Vice President, Mrs. Sandra Llorca at [email protected] if you have any questions. MBI Program Ads (Due by Sun. 10/29): The Band Boosters are selling program ads for our upcoming Marching Band Invitational (MBI). PRHS has hosted this competition for the past 19 years. All our fellow CCPS high school marching bands will come to compete with their drumlines and marching bands. Placing an ad can help promote your local business. Parents also like to purchase these ads to with their student good luck and congratulations. The order form was sent email. All ads must be submitted by Sunday, October 29th.
