We neglected to announce last week’s Marchers of the Week! Last week we recognized Andrew Borbor (woodwind), Arturo Serna (brass), Chris Olivo (percussion), Yasmine Corral (auxiliary), and Luis Morales (officer). This week’s Section of the Week is our Sousaphone Section, led by Section Leaders Andy Bonet and Eddie Feliciano! Congratulations to all! Please keep up the good work!

Marching Band Shoe Orders (Past Due): Mrs. Robinson is no longer accepting orders for marching band shoes. If by chance we have a student’s size, we will sell them what we have in stock. If we do not have their size in stock, they will have to purchase the shoes on their own. The cost of purchasing shoes on your own goes up to about $40. Mrs. Robinson will provide students with the website and product information when needed.

Healthy Snack Orders (Past Due): Healthy snack meals are offered to students who want to eat before we leave for an away football game. The meal plan will include 5 meals for the cost of $30. The meal includes your choice of a ham, turkey, BMT, or veggie 6-inch Subway sandwich with chips, a cookie, and water. If you still want to order a meal plan, please turn in your order and payment to Mrs. Robinson by this Wednesday, September 8th! Healthy snack meals can be purchased on the day of an event for $7, if extra meals are available.

Tri-M Music Honor Society Info Meeting (Wed. 9/8): PRHS is proud to announce that we are starting a Music Honor Society called Tri-M! We’re holding an informational meeting for students who are interested in joining. Students must be a junior or senior who is currently enrolled in orchestra, choir, band, or auxiliary. Students must also have completed at least one full year of band, orchestra, choir, or auxiliary, they must have maintained an “A” average grade in their music class in the previous year and they must have at least a 3.0 weighted GPA. A flyer with more information has been posted in the band room.

Marching Pride Senior Banners Make-up (Thurs. 9/9): We are having a make-up picture day for senior banners on Thurs. 9/9 at 4:30pm at PRHS. If you plan on having your pictures taken, please turn in your $75 payment to Mrs. Robinson. Checks should be made payable to PRHS Band Boosters. If you must pay in cash, please bring the exact amount as Mrs. Robinson will not have any change. This will be the last opportunity for seniors to get a senior banner before the end of marching band season.

Thursday’s Marching Band Rehearsal (Thurs. 9/9): This Thursday’s rehearsal will be in the back practice field. Please plan accordingly. Band students will wear a silver/light gray shirt and auxiliary will wear black on black. Please remember to bring your jug of water to every rehearsal!

Away Game at Lely HS (Fri. 9/10): Call time for this Friday’s game is 4:00pm. Healthy snack will be distributed in the band room at 3:30pm. Students will meet in the band room at 4:00pm call. The band room remain open after school due to the earlier call times. The uniform for auxiliary will be pre-game top, black leggings, tights, black outdoor shoes, earrings and full hair and make-up. The uniform for band will be full marching uniform, with this year’s black Pure Imagination band t-shirt, this year’s green band shorts, long solid black socks, and marching band shoes.

Alternate Travel Requests: Occasionally parents will request to pick-up their students from an event especially when we travel to away games. If it is absolutely necessary to pick-up your student from a band event, please fill out an Alternate Travel Form and return the completed form to Mrs. Robinson at least three days before the event. If you require alternate travel for your student for this week, the form is due to Mrs. Robinson by Wednesday, September 8th so that the form can be approved by Dr. Walcott. The Alternate Travel Form can be found on the band website under the “Students” tab at: https://www.prhsbands.org/2021-2022-info.html. Students who do not travel back to the school with the band will be responsible for making arrangements to have their instrument/equipment and uniform returned to the school.

Krispy Kreme Donut Fundraiser (Due 9/22): The Band Boosters are selling Krispy Kreme Donuts! Order forms will be given out during class this week. A box of a dozen donuts will sell for $12. All officers, percussion and auxiliary students are being asked to sell at least 2 boxes. All other students are being asked to sell at least 1 box. Orders are due by Wednesday, September 22nd.

MBI Program Ads (Due 9/24): We are selling Program Ads for our upcoming Marching Band Invitational (MBI). PRHS has hosted this competition for the past 17 years. Local bands from Southwest Florida are signed up to come and compete with their drumlines and marching bands. Placing an Ad can help promote a local business. Parents typically like to purchase a program ad to wish their student good luck and congratulations. All ads must be submitted by Friday, September 24th.

Saturday Marching Band Rehearsal (Sat. 9/25): All parents and students are being reminded that we’ve had a Saturday rehearsal listed on the band calendar since May 2021. This Saturday rehearsal is scheduled so that we can catch up with lost rehearsal time due to rain, lightning, and for this year Covid. The rehearsal will run from 9:00am-2:00pm. There will be a lunch break. This rehearsal will be graded and all students are expected to attend.

Instrument Equipment Requirements: All woodwind, brass and percussion students had an equipment check last week. This equipment check will count as a quiz grade in Focus. Students who did not have the required equipment can make-up the assignment this week. This equipment is needed to help maintain our instruments, which can also prevent the need to send instruments in for repair.

Instrument Repair & Equipment: Our trusted local vendors are Cadence Music (239) 275-6262 and Christman Music (239) 254-8863. If needed, please be sure to get your instrument fixed and have all your needed supplies. Christman Music visits PRHS on Mondays and Cadence Music comes on Fridays.
