This week is Homecoming week at the Ridge! Every day is a theme day. All students are encouraged to dress up and participate to show their school spirit!

On Monday, the school is having a special Coronation ceremony for the Homecoming Court. The ceremony will take place in the stadium at 11:00am. The school will be on the “Connect for Success” bell schedule on Monday and the ceremony will take place during the “Connect for Success” class period. We are also having our monthly Band Booster Meeting on Monday night at 7:00pm in the band room.

Krispy Kreme pick-up is this Tuesday (10/5). Orders will be available for pick-up after school from 2:05-2:35pm, before rehearsal from 4:45-5:30pm, and after rehearsal from 8:30-9:15pm. More information is provided below.

Friday night is our Homecoming game against Gulf Coast and it’s also 8th Grade Band Night where middle school band members from Corkscrew Middle School and Cypress Palm Middle School will join the Marching Pride on the field and in the stands. We’re so excited to be able to have 8th Grade Band Night this year!

Saturday will be our first official marching competition at Lehigh Senior’s Lightning Tournament of Bands. Call time for the band will be 10:00am. More details will be sent out in a separate email.

This week’s Marchers of the Week are Johnathan Nguyen (woodwind), Maria Gallegos-Castro (brass), Joanna Gutierrez (percussion), Thais Chan (auxiliary), and Olivia Strom (officer).

This week’s Section of the Week is our Trombone Section, led by Section Leaders Alana Aikey and Breanna Daly. Congratulations to everyone and please keep up the good work!

Lastly, we’d like to thank everyone who helped to make the 17th Annual Marching Band Invitational at PRHS successful and possible. Thank you so much to Anthony Rowtie, Eileen Fuentes, Brandon Laboa, and Miguel Font for heading concessions, equipment/truck crew, parent volunteers, and all the logistics in running the show. The judges and directors were very complimentary on how well the event ran and that is due to the hard work and help of our parent volunteers. We’d also like to thank Frisco’s Catering for providing dinner for our judges. Thank you to our band staff and all our students who volunteered to help set up, run, and tear down the event! We are hosting the District Marching MPA this year on Saturday, October 30th. We will need everyone’s help once again. Please save the date!

Alternate Travel Requests: If it is absolutely necessary to pick-up your student from a band event, please fill out an Alternate Travel Form and return the completed form to Mrs. Robinson at least three days before the event. If you require alternate travel for your student for this week, the form is due to Mrs. Robinson by Wednesday, October 8th so that the form can be approved by Dr. Walcott. The Alternate Travel Form can be found on the band website under the “Students” tab at: https://www.prhsbands.org/2021-2022-info.html. Students who do not travel back to the school with the band will be responsible for making arrangements to have their instrument/equipment and uniform returned to the school. Just a reminder, as stated on the form, Mrs. Robinson can only release students to their parents and legal guardians.

Naples Marching Band Competition (Sat. 10/16): The Marching Pride is competing at the Southwest Florida Music Games at Naples High School on Saturday, October 16th.  The schedule for the competition has not been released yet. Concession Parent Volunteers: Just a reminder, parents who volunteer to work in our concession stand can earn $50 worth of credit towards this year’s band trip to Universal Studios. To earn the credit, parents must volunteer and work twice in concessions. The credit can only be applied to their student’s band trip account. We have only 2 home games left, but we are also offering concessions at the District Marching MPA event, which is hosted at PRHS this year.
