This week we have midterms, please refer to the bell schedule posted by the school on Canvas.
  
All events for the second semester are posted on the band calendar.
 
This Week’s Schedule:
 
Tuesday (1/12)
  • Dance Camp, 4:30-8:30pm
  • Varsity Guard, 4:30-6:30pm
Wednesday (1/13)
  • 7th Period Midterms
  • Varsity Guard, 4:30-6:30pm
  • JV Guard, 6:30-8:30pm
Thursday (1/14)
  • 1st, 3rd, and 5th Period Midterms
Friday (1/15)
  • End of Quarter 2
  • 2nd, 4th, and 6th Period Midterms
 
Music Masks: From now on, all woodwind and brass students are expected to wear their music masks during class on a regular basis. Music masks will be required for all students during all PRHS performances. Students who are returning to in person learning in the second semester who did not do marching band season on campus, will have to purchase a music mask for $15.
 
Indoor Auxiliary Groups: Now that we’re in Indoor Season for auxiliary, the class will now be separated into three groups: Dance, JV Guard, and Varsity Guard. After school rehearsals are required as a grade for the class. Since we are preparing for MPA and competition, we are only allowing students who attend class on campus during the school day to prepare with these groups. Virtual auxiliary students will learn their work during class and complete the make-up assignments for any MPA/competition related events online. Competition season will end by spring break. After spring break, the auxiliary team will be combined for their after school practices to prepare for their Rhythm of the Pride Recital. At that point, virtual students may choose to participate in after school rehearsals and the Rhythm of the Pride performance. 
 
Concert Band Season: The band will continue to prepare in their three groups: Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Symphonic Wind Symphony. After school rehearsals for band will start in the week of February 16th. These after school rehearsals will be required as a grade for the class. Since we are preparing for MPA, we are only allowing students who attend class on campus during the school day to prepare with these groups. Virtual band students will learn their work during class and complete the make-up assignments for any MPA related events online. MPA season will end in mid-April. After MPA, the concert bands will prepare for their annual Spring Band Concert. At that point, virtual students may choose to participate in after school rehearsals and the Spring Band Concert performance. 

Drumline Club (Starts Tuesday, January 19): PRHS Bands is starting a Drumline Club. This group will meet on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4:30-6:30pm. Students will get the opportunity to work with Mr. Dang, strengthen their marching band percussion technique, and perform at the Rhythm of the Pride recital in April. All PRHS Band students are welcome to participate. All students must bring their own drum sticks and practice pad. Please contact Mrs. Robinson at [email protected] if you have any questions.
 
All County Honor Band Auditions (Due January 20-24): Auditions will be virtual through Canvas from January 20-24. Students who signed up to audition for Honor Band will be added to a “District Honor Band Class” through Canvas.
 
District Solo & Ensemble MPA (February 12-13): Solo & Ensemble MPA will be virtual this year on February 12-13. All performing students will receive a rating and comments from their judge. 
 
District Auxiliary MPA (February 13): All auxiliary groups will perform at District Auxiliary MPA. All Varsity Guard, Dance, and virtual auxiliary students are required to perform a solo at MPA. Auxiliary MPA will be virtual this year on February 13. Mrs. Robinson will submit a video of all performing groups and soloists who will receive a rating and comments from their judge.
 
District Jazz MPA (February 25-26): As of right now, we plan on taking both jazz bands District Jazz MPA. Jazz MPA will be virtual this year on February 25 and 26. Mrs. Robinson will submit a video of all performing groups who will receive comments from their judges. Since we are preparing for MPA, we are only allowing students who attend class during the school day to prepare with these groups. PRHS Solo & Ensemble Competition (CANCELLED): This event is unfortunately cancelled due to lack of interest from band students. Students who were interested in participating were encouraged to perform at S&E MPA, the Mid-Year Band Concert, or the Spring Band Concert.
