On Saturday, the Marching Pride competed at the Riverview Tampa Bay Fall Games Competition. Our students had an amazing performance and placed 1st in Class 5A and won Grand Champion! They won all captions in Class 5A and Best Overall Music, Visual, General Effect and Best Overall Auxiliary. Congratulations! We are so proud of our Marching Pride!
We want to thank all our band staff and parent volunteers who came traveled with us to the Riverview competition. Thank you, Eileen Fuentes, Sandra Llorca, Erika Guerra, Daniel Guerra, Bill Strom, Arthur Feria, Tatiana Ryan, Michelle Jones, and Nidia Law, for their leadership with our Band Boosters and parent volunteers. Our students would not be successful without our outstanding parent support. Thank you for giving your time and support to our students and program! This week the Marching Pride is performing in our District 22 Marching MPA at Barron Collier High School, one of our biggest events of the season! We are rehearsing on Tuesday and Thursday this week. Tuesday’s rehearsal will be in the back practice field. This Friday’s home game is Senior Night where we’ll be celebrating and honoring our seniors in band, football, and cheer. On Saturday, we’re hosting a Zumba Fundraiser at 9:00am in the gym. Admission is $20. Please help spread the word! This fundraiser is to help raise money to send the Marching Pride to State and is open to the public. Make-up Assignments: All missed rehearsals and performances will require a make-up assignment. Instructions on how to request a make-up assignment are posted in Canvas under “Modules.” Cookie Dough Fundraiser (Due Mon. 10/23): Orders are due by Monday, October 23rd. Students who are going on the Disney Band Trip will earn $8 for each tub sold. Students who are not going to Disney will help raise money for marching band season expenses. Thursday Rehearsal Attire (Thurs. 10/26): For this Thursday, band students will wear a black shirt with dark colored shorts. Auxiliary will wear their normal white on black. Senior Night Info (Due Thurs. 10/26): Our Marching Pride Seniors will be recognized during halftime at the game vs. Desoto HS on Friday, October 27th. Seniors will be given a tiara or Marching Pride hat as a gift from our Band Boosters. Students who ordered both, will have to pay $25 for the hat. This payment will be collected when seniors go to receive their hats and/or tiaras at 5:00pm call on 10/27. Seniors, please provide the information needed for Senior Night by 9:00pm on Thursday, October 26th. Home Game vs. Desoto HS *Senior Night* (Fri. 10/27): This week’s game is at home against Desoto High School. This game is also our Senior Night! Call time for students is 5:00pm. The band room will be closed from 2:30-4:30pm. Band students will wear full uniform with this year’s gray Marching Pride shirt, any athletic shorts, tall solid black socks, and marching band shoes. Senior band students can choose to wear their freshman year green band t-shirt with the masked bear. Auxiliary students will wear their pregame uniform, tights, black auxiliary shoes, earrings, and full hair and makeup. The Marching Pride will recognize their seniors during halftime and then perform “A Whole New World” post-game. The game starts at 7:00pm and tickets are available on gofan.co. Please be prepared to pick-up your student around 10:30pm. Students will text and call their rides when they return to the band room at the end of the game. Game Day Student Drop-off and Pick-up (Fri. 10/27): For Friday, please drop-off your student in either the back of the school by the portables or in the bus loop. Student pick-up will be in the main loop by the flagpole. Thank you for your cooperation. Game Day Student & Staff Parking (Fri. 10/27): All Marching Pride students, staff, and parent volunteers will park in the back parking lot by the portables for Friday night’s game. You will be asked to move your vehicle if you park in front of the school or in the bus parking lot located behind the visitor’s stands. Thank you for your cooperation. Stadium Clean-up (Fri. 10/27): This Friday, clean-up duty is assigned to all non-seniors. (No on had to stay after to clean the stands at the last home game.) Students will be provided with gloves when they return to the stadium. District Marching MPA (Sat. 10/28): Our District Marching MPA will be on Saturday, October 28th at Barron Collier High School. This is one of our biggest events of the season. Call time for students is 3:00pm at PRHS. Full details were sent via email. Saturday Student Drop-off and Pick-up: For Saturday, please drop-off and pick-up your student in the main loop by the flagpole. All students who drive will park in the Student Parking Lot. Thank you for your cooperation. Alternate Travel Requests (Due by Wed. 10/25): If a parent needs to pick up their student from a band event, they must turn in Alternate Travel Request Form. Alternate Travel Requests are due to Mrs. Robinson THREE DAYS prior to departure and will require administrator approval. This form can be found on the band website: www.prhsbands.org/2023-2024-info.html. As stated in the Band Handbook, Mrs. Robinson will only release students to their parents and legal guardians. More information and instructions are provided on the form. Marching Pride Zumba Fundraiser (Sat. 10/28): The PRHS Band Boosters are hosting a Zumba Fundraiser on Saturday, October 28th. Admission is $20. The class will start at 9:00am and end at 10:00am in the PRHS gym. Our Zumba Instructor is Melissa Sieja! This fundraiser event is open to the public. Please help spread the word! Disney Band Trip Information: Thank you to everyone who registered for the Disney Band Trip. The next trip payment is due on Friday, November 17th. Roommate request forms are also due by Friday, November 17th. PLEASE READ: To complete student registration for the trip, we need the registration form AND the first deposit. Some individuals have paid online through Square but have NOT turned in a registration form. Please do this ASAP. MBI Program Ads (Due by Sun. 10/29): The Band Boosters are selling program ads for our upcoming Marching Band Invitational (MBI). PRHS has hosted this competition for the past 19 years. All our fellow CCPS high school marching bands will come to compete with their drumlines and marching bands. Placing an ad can help promote your local business. Parents also like to purchase these ads to with their student good luck and congratulations. All ads must be submitted by Sunday, October 29th. Marching Pride Trunk or Treat (Wed. 11/1): Since Halloween is on a Tuesday this year, the Marching Pride will be rehearsing on Wednesday, November 1st. The Band Boosters will hold their annual Trunk or Treat after rehearsal starting at 8:00pm. We’re looking for parents to participate by decorating their cars and passing out treats to the students.
