The band is off to a great start this season! The first week of band camp was a huge success! The band learned their pre-game show and started their drill for Reign. Please remember that this week’s schedule changes starting on Wednesday. Students driving to band camp also need to park in the student parking lot starting on Wednesday when all teachers return to the building.
 
This week is Spirit Week! All students are encouraged to participate by dressing up for each day. The themes are listed below in the weekly schedule. Here are the assignments for Tuesday’s Color War Day: Flutes – White, Clarinets – Blue, Saxes – Grey, Trumpets – Purple, Mellos – Yellow, Trombones – Red, Baritones – Green, Sousas – Black, Percussion – ‘Merica, Auxiliary – Tie-Dye. 
 
If you have not already done so, please be sure to turn in your required forms when you arrive to band camp. When you arrive for band camp, please remember to use the double doors by the auditorium loading dock. 
 
It’s highly recommended that students continue to hydrate throughout the week and use bug spray for our evening rehearsals.
 
 
This Week’s Schedule:
 
Monday (8/6) - Twin Day!
  • Band Camp, 8:00am-4:00pm
  • Lunch, 11:30am-12:15pm
Tuesday (8/7) - Color Wars! 
  • Band Camp, 8:00am-4:00pm
  • Lunch, 11:30am-12:15pm
  • Parent Volunteer Orientation, 6:30pm
Wednesday (8/8) – Character Day!
  • Students, please park in the student parking lot starting Wednesday!
  • Band Camp, 1:00-8:30pm
  • Dinner, 5:00-5:45pm
Thursday (8/9) – Camo Day!
  • Band Camp, 1:00-8:30pm
  • Dinner, 5:00-5:45pm
Friday (8/10) – Spirit Day!
  • Band Camp, 1:00-6:00pm
  • End of Band Camp Party, 6:00-9:00pm
 
 
Marching Pride Parent Volunteer Orientation (Tues. 8/7 at 6:30pm): All parents interested in being a PRHS Band volunteer must attend the Orientation Meeting in the Band Room. For more information, please email Mrs. Eileen Fuentes at prhschaps@gmail.com.
 
 
End of Band Camp Party (Fri. 8/10 from 6:00-9:00pm): All Marching Pride students are invited to celebrate the end of Band Camp. We will have a party in the cafeteria and there will be pizza, nachos, soda, ice cream and a DJ! Please join us for one our favorite Marching Pride traditions! All students are asked to RSVP at the link sent via email. 
 
 
Coupon Book Fundraiser: Our Band Boosters are holding the first fundraiser of the year. We are selling coupon books for $20. All students are asked to sell at least 1 book. After the first 2 books sold, students have the opportunity to raise money towards their Chicago Band Trip. Order forms are available in the band room. 2018 Band & Auxiliary Order Forms: If you did not turn in your order forms for additional band items, home game meals or healthy snack, please turn these in this week! We will be placing all orders at the end of the week. The forms are available in the band office.  
 
 
Marching Pride Shirt & Short Orders: All woodwind, brass and percussion students should have received the first band t-shirt and pair of shorts. If you were not at the Kick Off Meeting you will be able to pick these items when you turn in your forms. If you ordered extra sets of shirts and/or shorts, we hope to have these distributed at the end of the week.
 
 
Chicago Band Trip: The last day to sign up for the Chicago Band Trip is Monday, August 13th. This is a hard deadline, as BRT will be purchasing our airline tickets that week. If you’re interested in going on the trip, please contact our BRT coordinator Kim Mikitka ASAP. Kim can be reached by phone at (800) 373-1423 ext. 243 or via email at kmikitka@bobrogerstravel.com. Office hours are Monday through Friday 7:30am – 4:30pm (central time).
  
 
All State Auditions: All State Auditions will be on Saturday, September 15th. Students interested in auditioning for All State must notify Mrs. Robinson by August 15th.
 

Parent Volunteers Needed: Our Band Boosters are looking for parent help with setting up the concession stand and field props for the marching band show this Wednesday and Thursday from 5:00-8:00pm. Help is also needed on Friday at 5:00pm to help set up for the End of Band Camp Party. If you're interested in helping out, please email Mr. Buddy Rainey at buddyrainey2@gmail.com. Don't forget that we're looking for parent chaperones for the Chicago Band Trip and we select our chaperones based on their volunteer experience.

Upcoming Events:
 
  • Post Band Camp Performance (Tues. 8/14 at 8:00pm): All parents, family and friends are invited to see our Post Band Camp Performance in Bear Stadium weather permitting. 
  • Home Game vs.Ida Baker (Fri. 8/17, Call time 5:00pm):Our first football game of the season! Attire is TBD.
