Weekly Update 10/29

This Week’s Schedule:
 
  • Monday (10/30) District 18 Marching MPA @ Barron Collier, Call 4:00pm
    • Students will be eating dinner at Barron. They will need to bring money for the concession stand ($10-15).
    • Performance time is 8:00pm
    • The approximate return time to PRHS is 9:30pm
  • Tuesday (10/31) No Band Rehearsal, Happy Halloween!
  • Thursday (11/2) Full Rehearsal, 6:00-7:30pm; Truck or Treat 7:30-8:00pm
  • Friday (11/3) Away Football Game @ Lely, Call 4:00pm
    • Healthy Snack at 3:30pm
    • The approximate return time is 10:45pm
  • Saturday (11/4) 14th Annual PRHS Marching Band Invitational, Call 6:00pm
    • Performance time is 7:00pm
    • The approximate end time is 8:30pm
 
 
Monday MPA Attire: 
 
  • Winds & Percussion: This year’s white band t-shirt, gray marching band shorts, black socks that cover the ankle, and marching band shoes. Students will wear this attire underneath their full marching band uniform. 
  • Auxiliary:  Show uniforms.
 
 
Friday Game Day Attire: 
 
  • Winds & Percussion: This year’s green band t-shirt, athletic shorts, black socks that cover the ankle, and marching band shoes. Students will wear this attire underneath their full marching band uniform. (This week is a half time performance without props.)
  • Auxiliary: Performance tank top, performance black shorts, tights, and tan auxiliary shoes. The auxiliary will not change into their show uniforms for this game. (This week is a half time performance without props.)
 
 
Saturday MBI Attire: 
 
  • Winds & Percussion: This year’s white band t-shirt, gray marching band shorts, black socks that cover the ankle, and marching band shoes. Students will wear this attire underneath their full marching band uniform.

Parent Volunteers Needed for Friday and Saturday:
 
  • Healthy Snack (Friday) and Concession (Saturday):  Please email Mr. Buddy Rainey at [email protected] if you’re able to help.
  • Chaperones (Monday & Friday): Please email Mrs. Eileen Fuentes at [email protected] if you are interested in chaperoning.
  • Band Equipment/Truck Crew (Monday & Friday): Please email Mr. Wilfredo Figueroa at [email protected] if you are interested in helping.
  • MBI (Saturday): Please email Mrs. Amy Yates at [email protected] if you are interested in helping.
 
 
Monday, 10/30 Marching MPA: The FBA District 18 Marching MPA is this Monday at Barron Collier High School. This festival performance is the culmination of the entire marching band season. FBA judges will evaluate each marching band on the following criteria: music, general effect, visual performance, percussion, and auxiliary. Marching bands will receive a rating of superior, excellent, good, fair, or poor in each category. Parents and families are encouraged to attend this event. There is an admission charge of $7.00 at the gate.
 
 
Thursday, 11/2 Truck or Treat: The Marching Pride is having their annual Truck or Treat this Thursday from 7:30-8:00pm. Parents who are participating should report to the faculty parking lot by 7:00pm. Students who are interested in participating should bring a treat bag! Students are also allowed to dress in costume for the Thursday rehearsal as long as their costume is in dress code and as long as they can perform and march in costume.
 
 
Saturday, 11/4 MBI: The Marching Pride is hosting the 14th Annual Marching Band Invitational this Saturday in Bear Stadium. This festival is a fundraiser for our program. We have 5 high school bands competing and the Marching Pride will perform towards the end of the evening. There is an admission charge of $8.00 at the gate. We will need student and parent volunteers for this event. Student sign-up will be posted in the band room. Parents who are interested in helping should contact Mrs. Amy Yates at [email protected]. 
 
 
MBI Ads: The Band Boosters are selling MBI ads for our Marching Band Invitational on November 4th. This is an opportunity for local businesses to have their advertisement on display at our event. Ads are $30. All families are asked to participate. It would be very beneficial for the band if every family sold at least one ad. All ads must be turned in by Tuesday, October 31st.
 
 
All County Honor Band Auditions: PRHS will host the All County Honor Band Auditions on Wednesday, November 8th. Parent volunteers will be needed for this event, which will be from 2:30-9:00pm. If you’re able to volunteer your time as a room monitor for a few hours, please email Ms. Sarmiento at [email protected]. Room monitors will read instructions to students who are auditioning.
 
 
Universal Studios Orlando Band Trip: The next trip meeting will be on Thursday, November 9th in the auditorium at 6:30pm. All students attending the trip must attend with their parents.
 
 
Important Dates to Remember: Please take special note to a few dates on the calendar:
 
  • Third St. South is on Monday, November 20th. This performance is for jazz band.
  • Ave Maria Celebration of Lights is on Friday, December 1st. This performance is for the Marching Pride and jazz band.
  • The Band Trip to Universal Studios is on Saturday, December 9th.
  • The Naples Christmas Parade has been moved to Tuesday, December 12th.
  • 2017 PRHS Winterfest Concerts are on Thursday, December 14th and Friday, December 15th.  This performance is for all concert bands, jazz bands, auxiliary, percussion, orchestra, choir, and the Marching Pride. There is an admission of $5.00.
