Thank you to all who auditioned. We are so fortunate to have so many dedicated, talented, and hardworking students in the Marching Pride. Please remember that these decisions are never made lightly. Students who are scheduled to audition for captain and section leader will have their interviews this week. The schedule is provided below. Please remember that we are holding an Auxiliary Camp on Tuesday, May 28th from 4:30-7:00pm in the band room. 2024-2025 Marching Pride Commitment Forms and Fees are due by this Wednesday! 2024 Band Awards Banquet (Thurs. 5/16): Our Band Awards Banquet is on Thursday, May 16th. Here are the full details: Student Check-In: Students who RSVP’d for the dinner and dance portion can start arriving as early as 4:30pm in the cafeteria. Please use the doors located on the side of the courtyard. These students will receive a wristband. The wristband will grant students entry into the cafeteria and their reserved meal. Student-to-Student Awards 5:30pm: Students who are participating in the student recognition awards should arrive by 5:00pm. The presentation will begin as soon as students are situated, and it will end at 5:45pm. Students who are presenting should know their order number and be prepared to present prior to the event. Student sign-up will close at 2:00pm on Tuesday. Band Awards Ceremony 6:00-8:00pm: The band awards ceremony will start at 6:00pm. Families may take their seats as early as 5:45pm. All seniors are asked to report to the band room by 5:45pm with their family and friends who are escorting them on stage. Parents, friends, and family are welcome and encouraged to attend! Seniors have until 9:00pm on Tuesday to turn in their information. Where do we sit in the auditorium when we arrive? The middle section of the auditorium will be reserved for senior students and parents. Freshman, sophomore, and junior parents are asked to sit on the left side of the auditorium or towards the back on the right side. All students will have assigned seats towards the front on the right side of the auditorium (when you’re looking at the stage). Students will find a card with their name at their seats. These cards will be given to the band booster parents on stage when students go to accept their awards. Student Dinner and Dance 8:00-10:00pm: After the awards ceremony, our band boosters are hosting desserts and a dance for the students in the cafeteria. This event is only for current Marching Pride students. (Sorry parents!) We will have parent chaperones at this event. Students who are not current Marching Pride members will be asked to leave. Students who have RSVP’d will receive a bracelet, which will grant them admission into the cafeteria. Please pick up your students no later than 10:30pm. Clean up: At the end of the dinner and dance portion, we will need freshman, sophomore, and junior students to help clean. Please consider helping at the end of the event. What do students wear? Students typically dress up for this occasion. Girls may wear a nice dress or pants with a blouse. Gentlemen may wear a shirt, tie, and nice pants. Students should avoid jeans, sweats, t-shirts, shorts, and gym shoes. What if my student is not able to attend the Band Awards Banquet? Spring Band Concert Rehearsals: All concert bands will rehearse on Wednesday, May 8th. Wind Symphony will go from 2:15-3:15pm, Symphonic Winds will go from 3:15-4:15pm, and Wind Ensemble will rehearse from 4:15-5:15pm. We will also have a lunch rehearsal on Thursday, May 9th from 12:00-12:15pm and another quick rehearsal at the 5:30pm call time on Thursday. Spring Band Concert (Thurs. 5/9): The Spring Band Concert is this Thursday, May 9th at 6:30pm in the auditorium. There is no admission charge for this concert. This concert will feature our two jazz bands, three concert bands, select small ensembles, and the Marching Pride. Call time for students is 5:30pm. Doors will open at 6:00pm. We hope to see you there as we celebrate a wonderful school year and our Senior Class of 2024! Drum Major Workshops & Officer Applications: Officer applications are past due. These awards will be presented at the Band Awards Banquet on Thursday, May 16th. Students who are interested in applying must complete the online application and essay by 5:00pm on Wednesday, May 8th. State Concert Band MPA (Mon. 4/29): Wind Ensemble is performing at State Concert Band MPA on Monday, April 29th at Broward College. Call time is 12:00pm. We will stop at the Sawgrass Mill Mall to eat an early dinner. We must be seated at Broward College by 5:15pm. Our performance time is 7:30pm. The approximate return to PRHS is 10:00pm. Palmetto Elementary FAST Testing Pep Rally (Tues. 4/30): Select students will perform for Palmetto Elementary on Tuesday, April 30th. Students will meet Mr. Claro at PES by 1:45pm. Band students will wear this year’s gray band t-shirt with neutral-colored bottoms and gym shoes. Auxiliary students will wear this year’s indoor t-shirt with neutral-colored bottoms and gym shoes. Students will be done by 2:45pm. Spring Band Concert Rehearsals: Our Spring Band Concert will be on Thursday, May 9th. After school rehearsals will start on May 1st.
