Game Day Attire:
Winds & Percussion: This year’s green band t-shirt, gray marching band shorts, black socks that cover the ankle, and marching band shoes. Students will wear this attire underneath their full marching band uniform.
Auxiliary: Performance tank top, performance black shorts, tights, and tan auxiliary shoes.
Parent Volunteers Needed:
Healthy Snack: We’re looking for parent volunteers to help pass out healthy snack on Friday at 2:30pm. Please email Mr. Buddy Rainey at firstname.lastname@example.org if you’re able to help.
Truck Crew: If you’re interested in helping our truck as we travel to Riverdale H.S. on Friday, please email Mr. Wilfredo Figueroa at email@example.com.
Chaperones: Please email Mrs. Eileen Fuentes at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in chaperoning this Friday.
Universal Studios Orlando Band Trip: Band Trip Commitment Forms and the first payment ($50) are due tomorrow (Mon. 8/28). Please contact Ms. Sarmiento if you need more time with the deposit. Please turn in your commitment forms!
Required Band Forms: We are still missing some student forms. Please turn in your forms ASAP.
A few reminders to parents and students:
During the school day, the band room is only accessible to music students. Non-music students are not allowed to enter the band room between passing periods, during lunch, or after school. Band students are reminded to follow this request.
At the end of the school day, the band room will close at 2:30pm. If there is an after school rehearsal, the band room will reopen at 5:00pm. If the band call time is before 5:00pm, the band room will remain open after school is dismissed at 2:05pm. Students are not allowed to wait on school grounds when they are not under a teacher or staff member’s supervision. This includes the gym, courtyard, auditorium, hallways, restroom areas, and all classrooms. Students who are found on campus unsupervised will be written up.
If your family is on a payment plan for band fees, please keep in mind that it is almost the end of the month. Please make another payment at your earliest convenience. Remember that all payments will be made towards the band fees before the band trip.
Please remind students to take care of their belongings: band t-shirts, shorts, marching shoes, etc. We have 258 students in the band who all own the same shirts, shoes, and shorts. If a student loses their band t-shirt, shorts, or anything else, they will have to purchase a replacement.
CHARMS: CHARMS Office Assistant is used for student accounts and email communication. Please check your accounts to make sure your contact information is accurate. Instructions on how to access your CHARMS account can be found at the following link: http://www.prhsbands.org/charms.html.
Important Dates to Remember: Please take special note to a few dates on the calendar:
There is Early Dismissal 9/20, along with no school on 9/21, but there is still a required football game performance on 9/22. It’s a home game and it’s also 8th grade night. In following week, we have a required football game performance on a Thursday night (9/28). We will not have Thursday night rehearsal on 9/21 or 9/28—instead, we will have a Saturday rehearsal on 9/23 from 8:00am-4:00pm. This rehearsal is mandatory.
There is no school on 10/16 and 10/17 but the band will still rehearse on Tuesday, 10/17 from 5:30-8:30pm. This rehearsal is required. We could not move it or cancel it because Band Show is that weekend (10/21) and MPA is the following weekend (10/28).
