This year’s band camp was a great success! We’re looking forward to our End of Band Camp Performance, this Tuesday at 8:00pm in Bear Stadium. Let’s hope that the weather cooperates. If it doesn’t, we’ll move the performance to the gymnasium.
If you have not already done so, please be sure to turn in your required forms when you arrive to rehearsal. Students will not be allowed to perform on Friday if they’re missing certain forms! More information is provided below.
It’s highly recommended that students continue to hydrate throughout the week and use bug spray for our evening rehearsals.
This Week’s Schedule:
2018 Required Forms: Several students have yet to turn in their required forms. Students will not be allowed to attend Friday’s football game performance if they are missing any of the following forms: Emergency Contact, Travel Authorization, Liability & Consent, Media, and/or Random Drug Testing form. Band Performance at Freshmen Orientation (Mon. 8/13, Call 6:15pm): All students interested in performing for the Freshmen Orientation should report to the band room at 6:15pm. Band students should wear this year’s green band t-shirt and auxiliary should wear a white t-shirt, preferably a white PRHS t-shirt. Freshmen are not able to attend this performance since they are attending orientation.
End of Band Camp Performance (Tues. 8/14 from 8:00pm):All parents, family and friends are invited to see our Post Band Camp Performance in Bear Stadium weather permitting. The performance will be moved to the gymnasium if there’s inclement weather.
First Day of School (Wed. 8/15):Wednesday is the first day of school for students! There will be a pep rally at the end of the day and the band will be performing. Students will be dismissed early from their 7thperiod classes and report to the band room. All Marching Pride students are asked to wear a band t-shirt for the pep rally performance.
Home Game vs. Ida Baker (Fri. 8/17, Call 5:00pm):Our first football game of the year is this Friday! Call time is 5:00pm. Band students will wear this year’s green band t-shirt, this year’s black marching band shorts, ankle length socks and dark colored athletic shoes. Auxiliary will wear a white t-shirt, black shorts, tights and auxiliary shoes or athletic shoes. The game should end around 9:45pm—however, there may be a weather delay, so please be aware that it’s very hard to determine pick-up times for game nights.
Coupon Book Fundraiser:Our Band Boosters are holding the first fundraiser of the year. We are selling coupon books for $20. All students are asked to sell at least 1 book. After the first 2 books sold, students have the opportunity to raise money towards their Chicago Band Trip. Order forms are available in the band room. Chicago Band Trip: The last day to sign up for the Chicago Band Trip is Monday, August 13th. This is a hard deadline, as BRT will be purchasing our airline tickets that week. If you’re interested in going on the trip, please contact our BRT coordinator Kim Mikitka ASAP. Kim can be reached by phone at (800) 373-1423 ext. 243 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Office hours are Monday through Friday 7:30am – 4:30pm (central time).
All State Auditions: All State Auditions will be on Saturday, September 15th. Students interested in auditioning for All State must notify Mrs. Robinson by August 15th.
